First steel cut for CSC

Construction on the Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC) fleet is officially underway – the first steel for a production test module was cut on June 28 at Irving Shipbuilding, with Royal Canadian Navy and Department of National Defence leadership on hand. The new fleet of warships will be known as River-class destroyers; Delivery is set to begin in the early 2030s, with a total of 15 ships expected by 2050.
