Cunard Line’s Queen Mary 2 performs a sail past in Halifax Harbour in celebration of Canada 150 escorted by HMCS Summerside on August 10 . As Queen Mary 2 sailed past, HMCS Acadia Cadets provided a 21 gun salute, while the Naval Reserve National Band played O’Canada.
The Stadacona Band were the lead marchers in Halifax’s 122nd Natal Day Parade on August 7, with Sidney Crosby and the Stanley Cup right behind them. Here, the band is seen heading across the Macdonald Bridge toward Dartmouth.
The former HMCS Preserver left HMC Dockyard for a final time on August 2, and was transported to Sydney Harbour where it awaits shipbreaking and recycling. Marine Recycling of Ontario has been awarded the contract to carry out the work.
A Change of Command Ceremony was held on board HMCS Ville de Québec on July 28, where Cdr Scott Robinson took over command of the ship from outgoing CO Capt(N) Guillaume Lafrance. Presiding over the ceremony was Cmdre Craig Skjerpen, Commander Canadian Fleet Atlantic.
