The Halifax Pride Parade was held on July 22, and among the tens of thousands of marchers were a large group of Royal Canadian Navy and CAF members proudly participating in uniform. The group included CAF members of the LGBTQ+ community as well as allies there to show support, including RAdm John Newton and Formation Chief CPO1 Pierre Auger as well a number of other senior leaders. The new CFB Halifax Float was also on hand, displaying the banner of the CFB Halifax Positive Space Initiative, and members of the Stadacona Band provided music.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also marched in this years parade, marking the first time a sitting Prime Minister has participated in Halifax Pride. Organizers said more than 100,000 people flooded into downtown Halifax for the parade and subsequent events at the Halifax Citadel Garrison Grounds.
