Le plus ancien bonspiel international au monde s'est r\u00e9cemment arr\u00eat\u00e9 \u00e0 Halifax, o\u00f9 le club de curling de la BFC Halifax a accueilli les participants \u00e0 la Coupe Strathcona le 18 janvier.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cette comp\u00e9tition amicale entre les curleurs canadiens et \u00e9cossais a lieu tous les 3 \u00e0 5 ans depuis 1903, et les fonctions d'h\u00f4te alternent \u00e0 chaque occasion. L'\u00e9dition pr\u00e9c\u00e9dente de 2018 a vu des curleurs canadiens se rendre en \u00c9cosse, et cette ann\u00e9e, les \u00e9quipes canadiennes ont accueilli 60 \u00ab touristes \u00bb \u00e9cossais pour l'\u00e9v\u00e9nement.<\/span><\/p>\n

Le groupe \u00e9cossais complet est divis\u00e9 en cohortes plus petites de l'Est, de l'Ouest et du Centre, compos\u00e9es de 20 curleurs chacune, et les \u00e9quipes se rendent dans divers clubs de curling du Canada depuis le 11 janvier.<\/span><\/p>\n

Le capitaine de fr\u00e9gate Nick Buxton, pr\u00e9sident du club de curling de la BFC Halifax, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que le choix du site comme \u00e9tape de cette prestigieuse tourn\u00e9e t\u00e9moigne de la qualit\u00e9 des installations et de leur r\u00e9putation aupr\u00e8s des curleurs locaux. Bien que la Coupe Strathcona soit un \u00e9v\u00e9nement civil, un certain nombre d'anciens militaires \u00e9taient sur la glace pour affronter les \u00c9cossais.<\/span>

\n<\/span>\u00ab Notre club de curling de la BFC Halifax est unique en ce sens qu'il sert nos militaires, mais aussi la communaut\u00e9 au sens large, donc c'est une excellente fa\u00e7on de contribuer au curling local et aussi de mettre en valeur le club. Nous sommes honor\u00e9s d'en faire partie \u00bb.<\/span><\/p>\n

Les trois \u00e9tapes de la tourn\u00e9e comprendront plus de 350 matchs, les gagnants \u00e9tant d\u00e9cid\u00e9s en fonction du total des points accumul\u00e9s. Les Canadiens esp\u00e8rent une nouvelle victoire apr\u00e8s avoir soulev\u00e9 la coupe titulaire \u00e0 \u00c9dimbourg en 2018, bien que les \u00e9quipes \u00e9cossaises aient eu la meilleure journ\u00e9e au club de la BFC Halifax, marquant 25 points contre 23 en quatre parties.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bonspiel du commandant de la base<\/b>

\n<\/b>Les curleurs militaires sont les bienvenus au club de la base en tout temps, mais ils sont particuli\u00e8rement encourag\u00e9s \u00e0 s'inscrire au Bonspiel du commandant de la base, pr\u00e9vu pour le 24 f\u00e9vrier. Le Capf Buxton a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que l'un de ses objectifs en tant que pr\u00e9sident du club \u00e9tait d'accro\u00eetre la participation des militaires au curling, et il encourage les unit\u00e9s \u00e0 prendre contact pour organiser leurs propres bonspiel, qui peuvent \u00eatre une excellente activit\u00e9 de renforcement de l'esprit d'\u00e9quipe \u00e0 faible co\u00fbt. Le club organise \u00e9galement de nombreux \u00e9v\u00e9nements d'accueil et d'apprentissage du curling.<\/span><\/p>\n
