Apr\u00e8s presque trois ans d'attente, l'\u00e9quipe masculine de basket-ball de la BFC Halifax a finalement repris le titre de champions de basket-ball de la r\u00e9gion Atlantique de la CAF. Les Mariners ont battu les \u00e9quipes de la 12e Escadre Shearwater, de la 14e Escadre Greenwood et leurs rivaux de la 5 Div CA Gagetown pour remporter l'or au tournoi du championnat r\u00e9gional de 2023, qui s'est d\u00e9roul\u00e9 du 24 au 27 janvier au Centre de conditionnement physique et de sports Shearwater.<\/span><\/p>\n

La pression \u00e9tait grande sur l'\u00e9quipe d'Halifax pour remporter l'or apr\u00e8s avoir \u00e9t\u00e9 battue en finale par Gagetown en 2020, la derni\u00e8re fois que les r\u00e9gionales ont eu lieu. Cette d\u00e9faite a mis fin \u00e0 une impressionnante s\u00e9rie de 17 ann\u00e9es de victoires pour l'\u00e9quipe de l'entra\u00eeneur Kevin Miller, coordonnateur du conditionnement physique et des sports des PSP Halifax.<\/span>

\n<\/span>Le capitaine Nic Leger, capitaine de l'\u00e9quipe d'Halifax et vainqueur de cinq titres r\u00e9gionaux pr\u00e9c\u00e9dents, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que la pression a fourni une motivation suppl\u00e9mentaire, ce qui a conduit \u00e0 une fiche sans d\u00e9faite tout au long de la semaine. Les Mariners ont remport\u00e9 des victoires contre Shearwater (66-24), Gagetown (73-59) et Greenwood (76-29) dans le tournoi \u00e0 la ronde, et ont de nouveau battu Shearwater 74-37 en demi-finale.<\/span>

\u00ab C'\u00e9tait formidable de voir tout le monde s'engager dans son r\u00f4le. Les visiteurs menaient de 12 points \u00e0 la mi-temps avant que Halifax ne se ressaisisse au cours des troisi\u00e8me et quatri\u00e8me quarts, \u00e9crasant leurs adversaires et terminant par une victoire de 79-68.<\/p>\n

\u00ab Ils ne pouvaient pas rater en premi\u00e8re mi-temps et leur d\u00e9fense nous causait toutes sortes de probl\u00e8mes \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 le Capt L\u00e9ger.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab Nous nous sommes sentis tellement bien parce que notre \u00e9quipe s'est serr\u00e9e les coudes, est rest\u00e9e positive, a r\u00e9sist\u00e9 \u00e0 la temp\u00eate en premi\u00e8re mi-temps, puis a jou\u00e9 une d\u00e9fense d'\u00e9quipe \u00e9touffante en deuxi\u00e8me mi-temps, en for\u00e7ant les revirements et en nous permettant de faire des tirs suppl\u00e9mentaires. \u00bb<\/span><\/p>\n

L'\u00e9quipe d'Halifax doit maintenant repr\u00e9senter la r\u00e9gion Atlantique au championnat national de basket-ball de la CAF plus tard cette ann\u00e9e. La derni\u00e8re fois qu'un tournoi national de basket-ball de la CAF a \u00e9t\u00e9 organis\u00e9, c'\u00e9tait en 2019.<\/span><\/p>\n
