Le Matelot de 1re classe Paul Chan Chow, op\u00e9rateur d'information de combat naval au NCSM <\/span>Ville de Qu\u00e9bec<\/span><\/i>, a r\u00e9cemment re\u00e7u le prix du marin du trimestre de la Flotte canadienne de l'Atlantique pour son engagement envers le mentorat des marins subalternes et ses efforts pour am\u00e9liorer le moral et la coh\u00e9sion de ses camarades.\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Le premier ma\u00eetre de premi\u00e8re classe Cavel Shebib, chef de la flotte de l'Atlantique, a remis le prix au Mat 1 Chan Chow lors d'une c\u00e9r\u00e9monie qui a eu lieu le 15 novembre, et a f\u00e9licit\u00e9 le marin pour son \u00ab d\u00e9vouement \u00bb et ses \u00ab capacit\u00e9s de leadership \u00bb.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab Le Mat 1 Chan Chow m\u00e9rite amplement cette reconnaissance, \u00bb a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 le Pm 1 Shebib.<\/span><\/p>\n

Faire plus que ce qui est attendu a toujours \u00e9t\u00e9 une force motrice pour le Mat 1 Chan Chow, qui a grandi \u00e0 Trinit\u00e9-et-Tobago et a immigr\u00e9 au Canada \u00e0 l'\u00e2ge de 19 ans.<\/span><\/p>\n

Motiv\u00e9 par le sens du but et le d\u00e9sir de servir, le S1 Chan Chow a rejoint les Forces arm\u00e9es canadiennes en d\u00e9cembre 2018.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab En tant qu'immigrant, j'ai ressenti un fort amour pour le Canada et j'ai pens\u00e9 que c'\u00e9tait une fa\u00e7on de rendre la pareille au pays qui m'a accueilli et m'a permis de me construire une vie que j'appr\u00e9cie vraiment \u00bb, a-t-il d\u00e9clar\u00e9.<\/span><\/p>\n

Se souvenant de la fa\u00e7on dont les membres sup\u00e9rieurs l'ont aid\u00e9 \u00e0 trouver sa voie \u00e0 ses d\u00e9buts dans l'arm\u00e9e, le Mat 1 Chan Chow conna\u00eet la valeur du mentorat et a organis\u00e9 des s\u00e9ances de formation pour les jeunes marins. Cette initiative lui a \u00e9galement \u00e9t\u00e9 b\u00e9n\u00e9fique, car \u00ab enseigner, c'est apprendre deux fois\" et il en est \"un marin meilleur et plus comp\u00e9tent \u00bb.<\/span><\/p>\n

En juin 2020, le Mat 1 Chan Chow a \u00e9t\u00e9 affect\u00e9 \u00e0 son navire actuel, le NCSM <\/span>Ville de Qu\u00e9bec<\/span><\/i> , et en octobre de la m\u00eame ann\u00e9e, il a pu participer \u00e0 son premier grand exercice d'entra\u00eenement multinational, l'exercice Joint Warrior, dans les eaux au large des c\u00f4tes du Royaume-Uni, o\u00f9 il a re\u00e7u de grands \u00e9loges de sa cha\u00eene de commandement pour son r\u00f4le dans l'exercice o\u00f9 il a agi comme op\u00e9rateur de tra\u00e7age anti-sous-marin.\n<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab C'\u00e9tait l'une de mes premi\u00e8res grandes navigations en tant que matelot de 3e classe et cela m'a vraiment donn\u00e9 la confiance et la conviction que je peux accomplir mon travail au plus haut niveau, \u00bb a-t-il dit, \u00ab c'est une confiance que je garde aujourd'hui et qui me permet de rechercher davantage de responsabilit\u00e9s et d'opportunit\u00e9s. \u00bb<\/span><\/p>\n

Alors que le <\/span>Ville de Qu\u00e9bec<\/span><\/i> subissait son car\u00e9nage de mi-vie, le Mat 1 Chan Chow a voulu se mettre au d\u00e9fi de continuer \u00e0 apprendre. Tout en passant du temps dans le bureau \u00e0 terre du navire, il a cherch\u00e9 des occasions d'\u00e9largir ses propres comp\u00e9tences et capacit\u00e9s, ainsi que d'enrichir l'exp\u00e9rience de l'ensemble de l'\u00e9quipage du navire, en s'occupant des comptes de m\u00e9dias sociaux du navire et en organisant des activit\u00e9s r\u00e9cr\u00e9atives suppl\u00e9mentaires pour l'\u00e9quipage du navire et leurs familles, avec des \u00e9v\u00e9nements sociaux tels que des journ\u00e9es \u00e0 la plage et des barbecues.\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Il a \u00e9galement pris l'initiative, pendant la semaine de sensibilisation des autochtones, d'organiser une rencontre entre un a\u00een\u00e9 local et l'\u00e9quipage du navire, afin de partager des histoires et des croyances issues de leur tradition, notamment en proposant une c\u00e9r\u00e9monie de purification.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab Je me sens tr\u00e8s chanceux d'avoir v\u00e9cu cette exp\u00e9rience \u00bb, a-t-il d\u00e9clar\u00e9. \u00ab Cela a vraiment mis en \u00e9vidence la diversit\u00e9 de l'\u00e9quipage du navire et du pays, et combien nous sommes plus forts gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 elle. \u00bb<\/span><\/p>\n

Bien que relever de nouveaux d\u00e9fis puisse \u00eatre \u00ab d\u00e9courageant au d\u00e9but\u00bb , le Mat 1 Chan Chow dit qu'il a appris qu'il en retire un sentiment incommensurable d'utilit\u00e9 et d'accomplissement, et que cela l'aide \u00e0 se sentir plus proche de sa famille \u00e9tendue \u00e0 Trinit\u00e9-et-Tobago.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab Je tire beaucoup de force de ma famille et de l'\u00e9ducation que j'ai re\u00e7ue \u00e0 Trinidad. Mes parents et grands-parents ont d\u00fb travailler tr\u00e8s dur pour que je puisse profiter des opportunit\u00e9s que j'ai aujourd'hui... leur travail acharn\u00e9, leur humilit\u00e9 et leur compassion ont vraiment contribu\u00e9 \u00e0 fa\u00e7onner qui je suis aujourd'hui, et cela me motive \u00e0 essayer de vivre une vie dont eux, et moi, pouvons \u00eatre fiers. \u00bb<\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
