Les membres du 4e R\u00e9giment d\u2019appui du g\u00e9nie (4 RAG) ont r\u00e9cemment fait preuve de leurs capacit\u00e9s et ont eu l\u2019occasion de perfectionner leurs comp\u00e9tences dans le cadre de l\u2019exercice NIHILO SAPPER 22 (Ex NS 22), du 1er novembre au 10 novembre 2022. En raison des impacts de l'ouragan FIONA, la port\u00e9e de l'Ex NS 22 a \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9duite pour se concentrer principalement sur la formation de niveau 3.<\/span><\/p>\n

Le r\u00f4le des membres du g\u00e9nie militaire est de permettre aux forces amies de vivre, de se d\u00e9placer ainsi que de combattre dans le champ de bataille, et d\u2019emp\u00eacher l\u2019ennemi d\u2019en faire autant. L\u2019entra\u00eenement pour ce r\u00f4le peut prendre plusieurs formes; cette ann\u00e9e, pendant deux semaines dans le secteur d\u2019entra\u00eenement de Gagetown, les membres du 4 RAG ont mis \u00e0 jour leurs comp\u00e9tences de base de soldat et de g\u00e9nie, y compris la reconnaissance, la d\u00e9molition de ponts et l\u2019instruction en mati\u00e8re d\u2019embarcations d\u2019assaut.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab L\u2019objectif de cet entra\u00eenement \u00e9tait que nos escadrons soient certifi\u00e9s au niveau 3 dans un contexte soutien g\u00e9n\u00e9ral et l'ing\u00e9nierie de terrain.\u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 le capitaine Matthew Murphy, qui \u00e9tait le planificateur principal de l\u2019Ex NS 22. \u00ab Nous avons accompli des t\u00e2ches au niveau de l\u2019escadron, notamment la construction d\u2019un camp, afin de prouver que nous poss\u00e9dons les comp\u00e9tences n\u00e9cessaires pour vivre, nous d\u00e9placer et combattre dans l\u2019espace de combat, souvent dans un environnement aust\u00e8re. Les membres du 45e Escadron de soutien se sont concentr\u00e9s sur la construction du camp tandis que les membres du 42e Escadron de campagne se sont concentr\u00e9s sur le g\u00e9nie de combat de base et les comp\u00e9tences du soldat. \u00bb<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab Dans le cadre de l\u2019Ex NS 22, nous nous sommes exerc\u00e9s \u00e0 construire l\u2019infrastructure d\u2019un camp, ce qui serait essentiel au d\u00e9ploiement des membres des Forces arm\u00e9es canadiennes dans un nouveau th\u00e9\u00e2tre d\u2019op\u00e9rations \u00bb, a expliqu\u00e9 le capitaine Daniel Portelli, le commandant du 45e Escadron de soutien. \u00ab Nous nous sommes exerc\u00e9s \u00e0 fournir aux troupes l\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9, l\u2019h\u00e9bergement, les ablutions, la lessive et les douches. L\u2019Ex NS 22 permet aux membres du 4 RAG de mettre en pratique les comp\u00e9tences n\u00e9cessaires pour permettre \u00e0 l\u2019Arm\u00e9e canadienne d\u2019entrer ou de sortir d\u2019\u00e0 peu pr\u00e8s n\u2019importe o\u00f9. \u00bb<\/span><\/p>\n

Les membres du 42e Escadron de campagne ont \u00e9galement exerc\u00e9 leurs comp\u00e9tences de base en mati\u00e8re de g\u00e9nie de combat. \u00ab Vivre dans un camp a ses avantages, mais ce n'est pas toujours possible dans la zone de combat avanc\u00e9e. \u00bb a expliqu\u00e9 le capitaine James Ryan, le commandant du 42e Escadron de campagne. \u00ab Pour nous pr\u00e9parer \u00e0 mener des op\u00e9rations dans un environnement non permissif, les membres de notre Escadron ont v\u00e9cu dans des conditions aust\u00e8res; nous mangions, dormions et travaillions \u00e0 l\u2019arri\u00e8re de nos v\u00e9hicules blind\u00e9s, et nous nous d\u00e9placions fr\u00e9quemment vers de nouveaux endroits. Nous avons effectu\u00e9 plusieurs exercices de tir aux armes l\u00e9g\u00e8res et de d\u00e9molition, permettant \u00e0 nos soldats de rafra\u00eechir leurs connaissances en mati\u00e8re de d\u00e9molitions complexes, d'\u00e9limination des munitions conventionnelles et d'ouverture de br\u00e8ches dans les explosifs tactiques, avant de mettre ces comp\u00e9tences en pratique dans le cadre d'un sc\u00e9nario tactique. \u00bb a pr\u00e9cis\u00e9 le capitaine Ryan.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nich\u00e9 dans le foyer de l\u2019Arm\u00e9e, l\u2019immense secteur d\u2019entra\u00eenement de Gagetown est certainement aust\u00e8re, et il a fourni aux membres du g\u00e9nie canadiens une excellente sc\u00e8ne pour r\u00e9p\u00e9ter et pratiquer les t\u00e2ches de g\u00e9nie jusqu\u2019\u00e0 ce que la comp\u00e9tence soit atteinte.
