Indigenous Veterans Day at CFB Halifax<\/b><\/h3>\n

Par les Affaires publiques de la BFC Halifax<\/b><\/p>\n

Le 8 novembre, le Mi'kmaw Native Friendship Centre a organis\u00e9 un rassemblement inspirant \u00e0 l\u2019occasion de la Journ\u00e9e des v\u00e9t\u00e9rans autochtones. En cette p\u00e9riode de r\u00e9conciliation et de r\u00e9flexion, il est plus important que jamais de reconna\u00eetre et de c\u00e9l\u00e9brer le r\u00f4le des v\u00e9t\u00e9rans autochtones. En cette semaine des v\u00e9t\u00e9rans et tout au long de l\u2019ann\u00e9e, nous ne devons jamais oublier comment leur service et leur sacrifice ont fa\u00e7onn\u00e9 notre pays. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Les membres du Groupe consultatif des Autochtones de la D\u00e9fense de l\u2019Atlantique (GCADA), \u00e0 savoir la M 1 Katerina Stewart, la M 1 Cheyanne Delaronde, le M 2 Arnie Stewart, le M 1 Joshua Lewis et la M 1 (retrait\u00e9e) Danielle Cook, ont particip\u00e9 \u00e0 la garde de drapeau pour le rassemblement. Pour la M 1 Stewart, la participation au rassemblement \u00e9tait incroyablement importante : \u00ab Je suis tr\u00e8s honor\u00e9e de participer au rassemblement des v\u00e9t\u00e9rans autochtones. Je suis tr\u00e8s fi\u00e8re de pouvoir rendre hommage \u00e0 nos v\u00e9t\u00e9rans autochtones en tant que militaire en activit\u00e9 de service et copr\u00e9sidente r\u00e9gionale du GCADA, car par le pass\u00e9, nos v\u00e9t\u00e9rans autochtones n\u2019ont pas re\u00e7u le m\u00eame traitement que les v\u00e9t\u00e9rans non autochtones, et pourtant ils se sont tous port\u00e9s volontaires pour servir dans les guerres et les conflits. Ils continuent \u00e0 nous inspirer, et nous leur sommes reconnaissants pour leur service. \u00bb\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ici, \u00e0 la BFC Halifax, le GCADA s\u2019emploie \u00e0 faire mieux conna\u00eetre les questions locales et g\u00e9n\u00e9rales qui touchent les peuples autochtones, \u00e0 informer les membres de l\u2019\u00c9quipe de la D\u00e9fense locale de l\u2019histoire et de la culture autochtones ainsi qu\u2019\u00e0 donner des conseils aux \u00e9quipes locales de direction du MDN\/des FAC au sujet des questions ayant une incidence sur le recrutement, le maintien en poste et la promotion des peuples autochtones.
