Le commandant de la Marine royale canadienne (MRC) se dit ravi que les navires de la flotte de l'Atlantique aient l'occasion de s'exercer avec le plus r\u00e9cent porte-avions de la marine am\u00e9ricaine, de m\u00eame que plusieurs autres alli\u00e9s de l'OTAN.<\/span><\/p>\n

Le Vice-amiral Angus Topshee, commandant de la MRC, \u00e9tait \u00e0 Halifax pour accueillir le groupe d'attaque USS Gerald R.Ford pour une visite portuaire qui a dur\u00e9 du 28 octobre au 1er novembre, avant que les navires ne prennent le large pour commencer un exercice de groupe op\u00e9rationnel ax\u00e9 sur l'interop\u00e9rabilit\u00e9 et la coop\u00e9ration entre les nations.<\/p>\n

Le groupe d'intervention \u00e9tait compos\u00e9 de la fr\u00e9gate Alvaro de Bazan de l'Armada espagnole, de la fr\u00e9gate HDMS Peter Willemoes de la marine danoise, de la fr\u00e9gate HNLMS De Zeven Provincien de la marine n\u00e9erlandaise, de la fr\u00e9gate HNLMS Van Amstel de la marine n\u00e9erlandaise, de la fr\u00e9gate FGS Hessen de la marine allemande, du destroyer \u00e0 missiles guid\u00e9s USS Ramage de la marine am\u00e9ricaine et du croiseur \u00e0 missiles guid\u00e9s USS Normandy, en plus de l'USS Gerald R. Ford lui-m\u00eame.<\/p>\n

L'USS Gerald R. Ford est l'un des plus grands porte-avions du monde, mesurant plus de 330 m\u00e8tres de long, et il dispose de capacit\u00e9s de pointe pour soutenir les avions qui d\u00e9collent de son pont d'envol.<\/p>\n

L'amiral Daryl Caudle, du commandement des forces de la flotte am\u00e9ricaine, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que l'envoi du groupe d'attaque multinational en mer envoie un message fort de dissuasion, mais il a fait remarquer que ce d\u00e9ploiement et cet exercice particuliers \u00e9taient en pr\u00e9paration depuis plus d'un an, avant l'invasion russe en cours en Ukraine.<\/span><\/p>\n
