Le 5 octobre, des membres de l\u2019\u00c9quipe de la D\u00e9fense locale ont retrouss\u00e9 leurs manches et particip\u00e9 \u00e0 une activit\u00e9 de la Journ\u00e9e d\u2019entraide au profit du programme de logement avec services de soutien pour les jeunes m\u00e8res (Supportive Housing for Young Mothers - SHYM) du YWCA d\u2019Halifax.<\/p>\n

Les activit\u00e9s de la Journ\u00e9e d\u2019entraide sont organis\u00e9es par Centraide Halifax pour jumeler des b\u00e9n\u00e9voles de la communaut\u00e9 avec des organismes de bienfaisance qui ont besoin d\u2019aide. Chaque ann\u00e9e, dans le cadre de la Campagne de charit\u00e9 en milieu de travail de la D\u00e9fense nationale de la r\u00e9gion d\u2019Halifax, Centraide Halifax affecte des b\u00e9n\u00e9voles de l\u2019\u00c9quipe de la D\u00e9fense \u00e0 des projets concrets au sein de la communaut\u00e9 locale.<\/p>\n

\u00ab\u2009La BFC Halifax a toujours encourag\u00e9 la Journ\u00e9e d\u2019entraide, en fournissant des b\u00e9n\u00e9voles et en y consacrant de nombreuses heures au fil des ans. Le soutien des b\u00e9n\u00e9voles est important pour les organismes communautaires, car ils n\u2019ont pas toujours le temps ou les ressources n\u00e9cessaires pour s\u2019attaquer seuls \u00e0 un projet. Le soutien suppl\u00e9mentaire qu\u2019ils re\u00e7oivent, qu\u2019il soit minime ou important, peut changer la donne\u2009\u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Nicole Cameron, directrice du d\u00e9veloppement et de la mobilisation \u00e0 Centraide Halifax.<\/p>\n

Le YWCA d\u2019Halifax est un organisme \u00e0 but non lucratif qui existe depuis 150 ans et qui assure la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 \u00e9conomique des femmes, des jeunes filles et de leurs familles, favorise leur bien-\u00eatre et leur ouvre des perspectives. Son programme SHYM offre aux jeunes m\u00e8res c\u00e9libataires \u00e0 risque \u00e2g\u00e9es de 16 \u00e0 24 ans des logements avec services de soutien, ainsi qu\u2019un soutien parental et des possibilit\u00e9s d\u2019apprentissage des aptitudes \u00e0 la vie.<\/p>\n

Inspir\u00e9s par le travail du YWCA d\u2019Halifax, les membres de l\u2019\u00c9quipe de la D\u00e9fense locale se sont rassembl\u00e9s le 5 octobre, t\u00f4t le matin, dans l\u2019un des logements avec services de soutien du SHYM pour effectuer des travaux de jardinage bien n\u00e9cessaires. Avec l\u2019aide de nombreuses personnes, ils ont accompli beaucoup de choses en quelques heures. Ils ont notamment ratiss\u00e9 et tondu la pelouse, enlev\u00e9 les broussailles qui obstruaient les all\u00e9es et les aires de jeux, install\u00e9 des structures de jeux pour enfants et r\u00e9par\u00e9 des b\u00e2timents.<\/p>\n

\u00ab\u2009En tant que membre de l\u2019\u00c9quipe de la D\u00e9fense au service de notre pays, je ne suis pas toujours t\u00e9moin du travail accompli \u00e0 grande \u00e9chelle. Le b\u00e9n\u00e9volat est important pour moi parce que je peux voir l\u2019effet imm\u00e9diat qu\u2019il a sur nos communaut\u00e9s locales\u2009\u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 le Ltv Wallace Tucker, un membre de l\u2019\u00c9quipe de la D\u00e9fense locale qui a particip\u00e9 \u00e0 cette activit\u00e9 de la Journ\u00e9e d\u2019entraide.<\/p>\n

Un grand merci \u00e0 Centraide Halifax et au personnel du YWCA d\u2019Halifax pour avoir organis\u00e9 cette Journ\u00e9e d\u2019entraide et Bravo Zulu aux nombreux membres de l\u2019\u00c9quipe de la D\u00e9fense locale qui ont donn\u00e9 de leur temps pour une bonne cause!
