The vessel has not experienced a single day of unscheduled downtime, testament to the high quality of the crew, the ship and its systems. Asterix has been widely lauded by global allied navies and described as setting the \u201cgold standard\u201d in naval procurement,\u201d said FSS in a press release.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The total optional lease period for Asterix is 10 years, although Canada can declare its contractual purchase option at any time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Asterix was converted at Davie Shipbuilding from a container ship to a military specified support vessel, and is now owned and operated by FSS. The ship is operated with a combination of FFS civilian mariners and RCN crew from Naval Replenishment Unit Asterix.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><b>Le contrat du MV Asterix est prolong\u00e9 jusqu&#8217;en 2025<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><b>Par l&#8217;\u00e9quipe du Trident<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Federal Fleet Services (FFS) et le gouvernement du Canada ont confirm\u00e9 une prolongation de deux ans du contrat de services de soutien en mer en place pour le navire de soutien au combat MV Asterix, qui navigue avec la Marine royale canadienne en tant que navire d&#8217;approvisionnement temporaire depuis 2018.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00ab Au cours des cinq derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es, l&#8217;Ast\u00e9rix s&#8217;est comport\u00e9 de mani\u00e8re irr\u00e9prochable dans le cadre d&#8217;op\u00e9rations de l&#8217;OTAN et d&#8217;op\u00e9rations alli\u00e9es, du golfe Arabo-Persique \u00e0 l&#8217;Afrique de l&#8217;Est et \u00e0 la p\u00e9ninsule cor\u00e9enne, en soutenant une vari\u00e9t\u00e9 de missions allant de la lutte contre le terrorisme \u00e0 l&#8217;application des sanctions. Le navire n&#8217;a pas connu un seul jour d&#8217;immobilisation impr\u00e9vue, ce qui t\u00e9moigne de la grande qualit\u00e9 de l&#8217;\u00e9quipage, du navire et de ses syst\u00e8mes. L&#8217;Ast\u00e9rix a fait l&#8217;objet de nombreux \u00e9loges de la part des marines alli\u00e9es du monde entier et a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9crit comme \u00e9tablissant la \u00ab norme d&#8217;or \u00bb\u00a0 en mati\u00e8re d&#8217;approvisionnement naval \u00bb , a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 FSS dans un communiqu\u00e9 de presse.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00ab \u00c9tant donn\u00e9 que le Canada a depuis longtemps besoin de jusqu&#8217;\u00e0 quatre navires de ravitaillement permanents et que le plan actuel pr\u00e9voit la livraison de deux navires de ravitaillement de la classe Protecteur, la prolongation du contrat de l&#8217;Asterix permet \u00e0 la MRC de maintenir des capacit\u00e9s essentielles de ravitaillement en mer maintenant et \u00e0 l&#8217;avenir. \u00bb<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La p\u00e9riode de location optionnelle totale de l&#8217;Ast\u00e9rix est de 10 ans, mais le Canada peut d\u00e9clarer son option d&#8217;achat contractuelle \u00e0 tout moment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">L&#8217;Ast\u00e9rix a \u00e9t\u00e9 converti \u00e0 la Davie Shipbuilding d&#8217;un navire porte-conteneurs \u00e0 un navire de soutien militaire sp\u00e9cifi\u00e9, et est maintenant d\u00e9tenu et exploit\u00e9 par FSS.
