At all three ceremonies, recipients included Regular Force and Reserve Force personnel.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This initiative builds upon similar RCN specialty skill badges which recognize unique qualifications, and it is similar to the surface warfare officer pin other navies use. As an occupation, RCN naval warfare officers train to one day command a warship or submarine.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_8096\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8096\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-8096\" src=\"https:\/\/tridentnewspaper.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/New-RCN-pin.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"387\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tridentnewspaper.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/New-RCN-pin.jpg 600w, https:\/\/tridentnewspaper.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/New-RCN-pin-300x194.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-8096\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">On May 16, Vice-Admiral Craig Baines, outgoing Commander of the Royal Canadian Navy, presented the new naval warfare officers\u2019 pin, which marks progression toward command of a commissioned warship.<br \/>Le 16 mai, le vice-amiral Craig Baines, commandant sortant de la Marine royale canadienne, a pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 la nouvelle \u00e9pinglette d\u2019officier de guerre navale, qui marque les progr\u00e8s r\u00e9alis\u00e9s pour parvenir \u00e0 un poste de commandement d\u2019un navire de guerre en service.\u00a0<br \/>ED DIXON<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThis new naval warfare officer badge recognizes the significant effort required to reach key career milestones within this occupation,\u201d says Commander Amber Comisso, Director Personnel Policy 2 at RCN. \u201cNaval Warfare Officers are encouraged to apply for their pins and to wear them with pride, as they are visual indicators of their progression towards command.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The badge recognizes sea-going service and progression towards command, based upon successful completion of specific qualifications and positions held within Her Majesty\u2019s Canadian ships and submarines. The three tiers of the badge are:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bronze \u2013 Given when a candidate receives a bridge watch keeping certificate on board a commissioned warship;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Silver \u2013 Given to Regular Force members who are operations room officer qualified (with command development course completion), to submariners who have received their equivalent operations room officer qualification, or to Primary Reservists who are Orca-class officer-in-charge qualified; and<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gold \u2013 Given for command of a commissioned warship.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In order to qualify for the badge, a candidate must be a currently serving RCN member who is either a current or former naval warfare officer. Personnel can apply for the badges through their divisional system.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><b>Une nouvelle \u00e9pinglette de la MRC marquant les progr\u00e8s r\u00e9alis\u00e9s pour parvenir \u00e0 un poste de commandement d\u2019un navire<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><b>Par ens 1 Wilson Ho,<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Les officiers de guerre navale de la Marine royale canadienne (MRC) peuvent d\u00e9sormais recevoir une nouvelle \u00e9pinglette marquant les progr\u00e8s qu\u2019ils ont r\u00e9alis\u00e9s pour parvenir \u00e0 un poste de commandement d\u2019un navire de guerre.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Les nouvelles \u00e9pinglettes ont \u00e9t\u00e9 officiellement d\u00e9voil\u00e9es le 16 mai 2022, et les premi\u00e8res pr\u00e9sentations ont eu lieu aux Forces maritimes de l&#8217;Atlantique \u00e0 Halifax, aux Forces maritimes du Pacifique \u00e0 Esquimalt (C.-B.). et \u00e0 Ottawa. Les trois niveaux sont les suivants :<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bronze : d\u00e9cern\u00e9 lorsqu\u2019un candidat re\u00e7oit son certificat de quart \u00e0 la passerelle \u00e0 bord d\u2019un navire de guerre en service.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Argent : d\u00e9cern\u00e9 aux membres de la Force r\u00e9guli\u00e8re qui ont re\u00e7u leur qualification d\u2019officier de la salle des op\u00e9rations (apr\u00e8s avoir suivi le cours de perfectionnement en commandement), aux sous-mariniers qui ont re\u00e7u leur qualification \u00e9quivalente d\u2019officier de la salle des op\u00e9rations ou aux membres de la Premi\u00e8re r\u00e9serve qui ont re\u00e7u leur qualification d\u2019officier responsable de la classe ORCA.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Or : d\u00e9cern\u00e9e aux personnes parvenues \u00e0 un poste de commandement d\u2019un navire de guerre en service.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pour recevoir l\u2019insigne, le candidat doit \u00eatre un membre de la MRC en activit\u00e9 de service et un ancien ou un actuel officier de guerre navale.
