Royal Canadian Navy launches new Mentorship Program for all<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) sailors at all ranks and civilian employees at all levels now have a mentorship program to call their own.<\/span><\/p>\n

Personnel are invited to attend the program\u2019s first session, which will take place on May 26 from Noon to 1:15 p.m. EST, and will be available Canada-wide on <\/span>Microsoft Teams<\/span><\/a>, or dial in at 343-803-5382, phone conference ID: 692 197 804#.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The first session will be focussed on \u201cWhy Mentorship?\u201d The session will feature Chief Petty Officer 1st Class (CPO1) Alena Mondelli, Canadian Forces Base Halifax Base Chief Petty Officer, Formation Master Sailor Kevin Dave from Maritime Forces Atlantic, Command Master Sailor Maude Lauzon, and Formation Master Sailor Stephanie MacAndrew from the Naval Reserve. Lieutenant-Commander Calley Gray and Sailor 1st Class Ella York will also speak. The session will be opened by Rear-Admiral Casper Donovan, Acting Deputy Commander RCN. These members will all share their thoughts on why mentorship is important.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe program is designed to create a space where individuals \u2013 regardless of their rank or experience \u2013 can share their knowledge and expertise with others who want to learn and grow in a personal and professional capacity,\u201d says program director Dennis Witzke.<\/span><\/p>\n

Initially the program will consist of group sessions led by a subject matter expert on topics of interest to RCN Team members. These sessions will be available to all on MS Teams.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

These group sessions will be held monthly and everyone is encouraged to actively participate, share their insights and ask questions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Although this program was developed with RCN military and civilian personnel in mind, it is open to all Canadian Armed Forces members and Department of National Defence employees at all ranks and levels.<\/span><\/p>\n

This way we can ensure that important lessons and skills that have been learned are passed on and support the development and preparation of sailors and officers for future challenges, as well as our civilian colleagues,\u201d says CPO1 Tara White, the Navy\u2019s occupation manager for boatswains and clearance divers, and member of the program development team.<\/span><\/p>\n

Les marins de la Marine royale canadienne\u00a0(MRC) de tous les grades et les employ\u00e9s civils de tous les niveaux ont maintenant un programme de mentorat qui leur est propre.<\/span><\/p>\n

La capitaine de corvette Calley Gray et la matelot de 1<\/span>re<\/span>\u00a0classe\u00a0Ella York prendront \u00e9galement la parole. La s\u00e9ance sera ouverte par le contre-amiral Casper Donovan, commandant adjoint par int\u00e9rim de la MRC. Ces militaires communiqueront tous leurs r\u00e9flexions sur les raisons pour lesquelles le mentorat est important.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0Le programme vise \u00e0 cr\u00e9er un espace o\u00f9 les personnes \u2013 quel que soit leur grade ou leur exp\u00e9rience \u2013 peuvent communiquer leurs connaissances et leur expertise \u00e0 d\u2019autres personnes qui souhaitent apprendre et se perfectionner sur les plans personnel et professionnel\u00a0\u00bb, a expliqu\u00e9 le directeur du programme, Dennis Witzke.<\/span><\/p>\n

Au d\u00e9part, le programme consistera en des s\u00e9ances de groupe dirig\u00e9es par un expert en la mati\u00e8re sur des sujets d\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat pour les membres de l\u2019\u00e9quipe de la MRC. Ces s\u00e9ances seront accessibles \u00e0 tous sur MS\u00a0Teams.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ces s\u00e9ances de groupe auront lieu tous les mois et tout le monde est encourag\u00e9 \u00e0 y participer activement, \u00e0 communiquer ses id\u00e9es et \u00e0 poser des questions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bien que ce programme ait \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9labor\u00e9 en pensant au personnel militaire et civil de la MRC, il est ouvert \u00e0 tous les militaires des Forces arm\u00e9es canadiennes et aux employ\u00e9s du minist\u00e8re de la D\u00e9fense nationale, quels que soient leur grade et leur niveau.<\/span><\/p>\n
