Le matelot de 1re classe (Mat 1) Christopher Wannamaker et le matelot de 1re classe (Mat 1) Brandon Wannamaker, deux fr\u00e8res jumeaux et cuisiniers au sein de la Marine royale canadienne (MRC), ont tous deux \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9ploy\u00e9s dans le cadre de l\u2019op\u00e9ration REASSURANCE en septembre 2026.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

COMMANDEMENT MARITIME DE L'OTAN<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Originaires de Mount Uniacke, en Nouvelle-\u00c9cosse, les fr\u00e8res se sont install\u00e9s \u00e0 Eastern Passage et ont fr\u00e9quent\u00e9 l\u2019\u00e9cole secondaire Charles P. Allen. En grandissant, on confondait souvent les jumeaux l\u2019un avec l\u2019autre. Il n\u2019est donc pas surprenant qu\u2019ils aient tous deux d\u00e9cid\u00e9 de s\u2019engager dans les Forces arm\u00e9es canadiennes (FAC) \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e2ge de 17 ans et qu\u2019ils aient choisi le m\u00eame m\u00e9tier : celui de cuisinier.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Les fr\u00e8res Wannamaker se sont tous deux int\u00e9ress\u00e9s tr\u00e8s t\u00f4t aux arts culinaires, ce qui a fait d\u2019une carri\u00e8re de cuisinier dans la Marine un choix tout naturel. Le talent culinaire est une affaire de famille, puisque les fr\u00e8res ont confi\u00e9 qu\u2019un de leurs oncles avait eu l\u2019occasion de cuisiner pour la reine \u00c9lisabeth II \u00e0 deux reprises.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Bien que les jumeaux aient beaucoup en commun, leurs personnalit\u00e9s et leurs centres d\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat respectifs ont \u00e9galement fa\u00e7onn\u00e9 leurs exp\u00e9riences au sein de la MRC. Le Mat 1 Christopher Wannamaker aime cuisiner en mer et continuer \u00e0 perfectionner ses comp\u00e9tences culinaires pendant son d\u00e9ploiement, tandis que le Mat 1 Brandon Wannamaker appr\u00e9cie particuli\u00e8rement la possibilit\u00e9 de voyager et de d\u00e9couvrir de nouveaux endroits. Le moment pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9 du Mat 1 Christopher Wannamaker au cours de ce d\u00e9ploiement a \u00e9t\u00e9 sa premi\u00e8re visite en Islande, tandis que le Mat 1 Brandon Wannamaker a particuli\u00e8rement appr\u00e9ci\u00e9 de travailler aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s de l\u2019\u00e9quipage.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Les deux fr\u00e8res servent actuellement \u00e0 bord de navires diff\u00e9rents dans le cadre de cette mission. Le Mat 1 Brandon Wannamaker sert \u00e0 bord du Navire canadien de Sa Majest\u00e9 (NCSM) Moncton, tandis que le Mat 1 Christopher Wannamaker sert \u00e0 bord du NCSM Edmonton. Il est int\u00e9ressant de noter que ce n\u2019est pas la premi\u00e8re fois que les jumeaux sont d\u00e9ploy\u00e9s ensemble : il s\u2019agit de leur deuxi\u00e8me mission c\u00f4te \u00e0 c\u00f4te, bien qu\u2019ils aient servi \u00e0 bord de deux navires diff\u00e9rents \u00e0 chaque fois.<\/p>\n

Pour les jumeaux, le fait d\u2019avoir un fr\u00e8re d\u00e9ploy\u00e9 en m\u00eame temps ajoute une dimension particuli\u00e8re \u00e0 une exp\u00e9rience d\u00e9j\u00e0 m\u00e9morable. M\u00eame s\u2019ils sont s\u00e9par\u00e9s par les ponts et les \u00e9quipages de deux navires diff\u00e9rents, ils partagent toujours le m\u00eame d\u00e9ploiement, la m\u00eame mission et bon nombre des m\u00eames exp\u00e9riences. Par ailleurs, tous deux sont fiers de repr\u00e9senter le Canada et leur province d\u2019origine, la Nouvelle-\u00c9cosse, tout en servant \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9tranger. Bien que la pr\u00e9sence de leur jumeau \u00e0 proximit\u00e9 rende l\u2019\u00e9loignement de chez eux un peu plus facile \u00e0 supporter, ils affirment tous deux appr\u00e9cier le soutien de leur famille rest\u00e9e en Nouvelle-\u00c9cosse.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

En repensant \u00e0 leur d\u00e9cision de s\u2019engager dans les FAC, aucun des deux fr\u00e8res ne regrette son choix. Pour le Mat 1 Brandon Wannamaker, le m\u00e9tier de cuisinier est une carri\u00e8re que tout le monde peut apprendre en partant de z\u00e9ro. \u00ab Vous n\u2019avez pas besoin de conna\u00eetre quoi que ce soit \u00e0 la cuisine.
