Le nouveau commandant des Forces maritimes de l\u2019Atlantique (FMAR(A)) et de la Force op\u00e9rationnelle interarm\u00e9es de l\u2019Atlantique (FOIA) affirme qu\u2019il mettra l\u2019accent sur les personnes alors qu\u2019il prend ses fonctions en tant qu\u2019officier sup\u00e9rieur de la Marine royale canadienne (MRC) dans la r\u00e9gion.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Le contre-amiral (Cam) Pascal Belhumeur a officiellement pris ses nouvelles fonctions le 11 ao\u00fbt \u00e0 l\u2019issue d\u2019une c\u00e9r\u00e9monie de passation de commandement en mer qui s\u2019est d\u00e9roul\u00e9e \u00e0 bord du navire canadien de Sa Majest\u00e9 (NCSM) William Hall.<\/p>\n

Le commandant de la FMAR(A) et de la FOIA est responsable des op\u00e9rations de la Marine royale canadienne (MRC) sur la c\u00f4te Est. Cela comprend la conduite d'op\u00e9rations de routine et nationales, ainsi que la direction des op\u00e9rations continentales des Forces arm\u00e9es canadiennes (FAC) dans l'ensemble du Canada atlantique, afin de d\u00e9fendre les int\u00e9r\u00eats et les valeurs du Canada tant sur le territoire national qu'\u00e0 l'\u00e9tranger.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Les fr\u00e9gates de classe Halifax, les navires de patrouille extrac\u00f4tiers et de l\u2019Arctique de la classe Harry DeWolf, ainsi que les derniers navires de classe Kingston ont tous \u00e9t\u00e9 soumis \u00e0 une charge de travail importante, participant \u00e0 des op\u00e9rations et des exercices multinationaux s\u2019\u00e9tendant de l\u2019Europe de l\u2019Est \u00e0 la r\u00e9gion indo-pacifique et \u00e0 l\u2019Arctique. Parall\u00e8lement, la flotte se pr\u00e9pare \u00e0 un changement majeur qui se profile \u00e0 l\u2019horizon : des travaux sont en cours pour pr\u00e9parer la formation en vue de l\u2019arriv\u00e9e des futurs destroyers de la classe Fleuves et rivi\u00e8res et des navires de soutien interarm\u00e9es, puis, \u00e0 terme, d\u2019une nouvelle flotte de sous-marins dans le cadre du projet canadien de sous-marins de patrouille. Cette transition entra\u00eenera d\u2019importants besoins en mati\u00e8re de formation et de travaux d\u2019infrastructure au cours des ann\u00e9es \u00e0 venir.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Anticipant les d\u00e9fis potentiels des ann\u00e9es \u00e0 venir, le Cam Belhumeur a soulign\u00e9 que le recrutement, la fid\u00e9lisation et la formation rev\u00eataient une importance cruciale alors que la Flotte de l\u2019Atlantique se pr\u00e9pare pour l\u2019avenir. Les efforts de recrutement portent d\u00e9j\u00e0 leurs fruits ; il sera essentiel de faire de ces nouvelles recrues des marins efficaces, a-t-il d\u00e9clar\u00e9.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Il a fait r\u00e9f\u00e9rence \u00e0 un r\u00e9cent message prononc\u00e9 lors de la c\u00e9r\u00e9monie de lever du drapeau par le commandant de la MRC, le vice-amiral Dan Charlebois, qui pla\u00e7ait les personnes au premier rang des priorit\u00e9s. Le Cam Belhumeur a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 qu\u2019il adh\u00e9rait \u00e0 cette approche pour la c\u00f4te Est.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab Tout tourne autour de nos gens : il s\u2019agit de les faire \u00e9voluer et de prendre soin d\u2019eux, car ce sont eux qui constituent notre force. \u00bb<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Le Cam Belhumeur succ\u00e8de au commandant sortant de la FMAR(A) et de la FOIA, la Cam Jos\u00e9e Kurtz, qui avait pris ses fonctions en juin 2023 en tant que premi\u00e8re femme \u00e0 diriger la Formation Halifax. Dans un communiqu\u00e9 publi\u00e9 \u00e0 la suite de cette passation de pouvoir, la contre-amirale Kurtz a exprim\u00e9 sa confiance en son successeur et en l\u2019avenir de la MRC dans son ensemble, tout en remerciant les membres de l\u2019\u00e9quipe qui l\u2019ont soutenue tout au long de ces trois ann\u00e9es de commandement couronn\u00e9es de succ\u00e8s.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
