Bien que rares, les navires peuvent entrer en contact avec des b\u00e2timents abandonn\u00e9s, des conteneurs maritimes \u00e0 la d\u00e9rive ou d'autres d\u00e9bris flottants qui repr\u00e9sentent un risque pour la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 de la navigation. Dans une telle situation, l'une des m\u00e9thodes permettant d'\u00e9liminer ce danger consiste \u00e0 effectuer une d\u00e9molition. En raison de la nature de cette t\u00e2che, les occasions de s'entra\u00eener \u00e0 cette capacit\u00e9 en mer sont toutefois peu fr\u00e9quentes.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\" translation-block\">Avant son r\u00e9cent retour \u00e0 Halifax, le navire canadien de Sa Majest\u00e9 (NCSM) Charlottetown a cependant eu l'occasion de r\u00e9aliser un tel entra\u00eenement au cours de son r\u00e9cent transit vers Guam, aux \u00c9tats-Unis. Le navire transportait \u00e0 son bord un drone-cible Hammerhead devenu inutilisable et ayant atteint la fin de sa vie utile. Plut\u00f4t que de s'en d\u00e9partir, l'\u00e9quipage l'a r\u00e9utilis\u00e9 comme obstacle flottant r\u00e9aliste \u00e0 la navigation dans le cadre de l'exercice de d\u00e9molition.<\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Comme pour toute op\u00e9ration impliquant des explosifs, la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 \u00e9tait la priorit\u00e9 absolue. Sous la direction du premier ma\u00eetre de 1re classe (PM 1) David Howard, commandant de l'exercice et ancien instructeur principal en d\u00e9molitions, l'\u00e9quipe a consacr\u00e9 beaucoup de temps \u00e0 la planification de l'\u00e9volution, \u00e0 la coordination du personnel et \u00e0 l'att\u00e9nuation des risques.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">L'\u00e9quipe a pr\u00e9par\u00e9 et s\u00e9curis\u00e9 les charges de d\u00e9molition avant de mettre soigneusement la cible \u00e0 l'eau. Le navire a \u00e9galement d\u00e9ploy\u00e9 deux embarcations de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 afin de transporter la charge explosive \u00e0 1 500 m\u00e8tres du navire, offrant ainsi la redondance n\u00e9cessaire pour positionner la charge en toute s\u00e9curit\u00e9 et quitter la zone de danger. Une fois la cible en place, l'\u00e9quipe de d\u00e9molition a re\u00e7u l'autorisation finale du commandement avant d'amorcer un syst\u00e8me de mise \u00e0 feu \u00e0 retardement, permettant au personnel de se retirer \u00e0 une distance s\u00e9curitaire avant la d\u00e9tonation.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">L'explosion qui a suivi, utilisant 23 kilogrammes d'explosif C4, a d\u00e9truit la cible exactement comme pr\u00e9vu.
