Des membres de l'UPF(A) donnent le d\u00e9part de la course annuelle des plongeurs de la Marine de l\u2019an dernier, organis\u00e9e au profit de l\u2019association \u00ab Christmas Daddies \u00bb. La campagne de 2025 a permis de r\u00e9colter la somme record de 33 000 dollars, et les plongeurs visent un nouveau total impressionnant pour 2026.\u00a0<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

La saison estivale n\u2019est pas encore tout \u00e0 fait termin\u00e9e, mais le matelot de 1re classe (Mat 1) Sam Phillips et l\u2019\u00e9quipe de l\u2019Unit\u00e9 de plong\u00e9e de la flotte (Atlantique) (UPF(A)) se tournent d\u00e9j\u00e0 vers l\u2019avenir. Ils sont d\u00e9j\u00e0 \u00e0 pied d\u2019\u0153uvre pour organiser un \u00e9v\u00e9nement qui s\u2019inscrit dans le soutien qu\u2019apportent les Forces arm\u00e9es canadiennes (FAC) au t\u00e9l\u00e9thon \u00ab Christmas Daddies \u00bb depuis 43 ans.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

La course 50K des plongeurs de la Marine cette ann\u00e9e est pr\u00e9vue le samedi 17 octobre.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

M\u00eame s'il reste encore trois mois avant l'\u00e9v\u00e9nement, il faut s'y prendre \u00e0 l'avance pour le faire conna\u00eetre.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab Plus nous pourrons mener d\u2019actions de sensibilisation t\u00f4t dans l\u2019ann\u00e9e, mieux ce sera \u00bb, explique le Mat 1 Phillips.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab L\u2019ann\u00e9e derni\u00e8re, nous avons accueilli 35 participants et cette ann\u00e9e, nous aimerions faire mieux. Chaque participant recueille au moins 100 dollars pour la cause. Cela repr\u00e9sente une contribution importante qui fait toute la diff\u00e9rence. \u00bb<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Cette initiative annuelle occupe une place importante dans le calendrier de l'UPF(A), et l\u2019\u00e9quipe met g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement tout en \u0153uvre pour recueillir des fonds qui servent ensuite \u00e0 venir en aide aux enfants et aux familles en difficult\u00e9 dans l\u2019ensemble des Maritimes.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Les ann\u00e9es pr\u00e9c\u00e9dentes, cette course sous forme de relais menait les participants \u00e0 travers le centre-ville d\u2019Halifax jusqu\u2019\u00e0 l\u2019arriv\u00e9e, aux studios de CTV. La distance actuelle de 50 kilom\u00e8tres repr\u00e9sente un d\u00e9fi physique suppl\u00e9mentaire par rapport aux formats pr\u00e9c\u00e9dents.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab Je pense que les jeunes de l\u2019unit\u00e9 sont tr\u00e8s motiv\u00e9s pour s\u2019impliquer et faire en sorte que cet \u00e9v\u00e9nement soit encore plus important et r\u00e9ussi que les ann\u00e9es pr\u00e9c\u00e9dentes \u00bb, poursuit le Mat 1 Phillips.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

La course \u00e9tant d\u00e9sormais ouverte aux participants civils \u2014 dix participants se sont joints aux plongeurs de l'UPF(A) l\u2019ann\u00e9e derni\u00e8re \u2014 et gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 des interactions accrues avec le public, le lien entre les membres des FAC et les collectivit\u00e9s qu\u2019ils servent s\u2019en trouve renforc\u00e9. Entre la course d\u2019octobre et le t\u00e9l\u00e9thon de d\u00e9cembre, les plongeurs participeront \u00e9galement \u00e0 diverses activit\u00e9s communautaires pour rencontrer le public et recueillir des dons.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Le Mat 1 Phillips a racont\u00e9 avoir rencontr\u00e9 un b\u00e9n\u00e9ficiaire de l\u2019aide apport\u00e9e par les \u00ab Christmas Daddies \u00bb lors de la visite des plongeurs aux studios de CTV l\u2019ann\u00e9e derni\u00e8re, et a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 qu\u2019il avait h\u00e2te de voir de pr\u00e8s l\u2019impact de l\u2019organisme lors du t\u00e9l\u00e9thon de cette ann\u00e9e, le 5 d\u00e9cembre. Bien que la course ait d\u00e9sormais lieu plus t\u00f4t dans l\u2019ann\u00e9e, l\u2019\u00e9quipe sera tout de m\u00eame pr\u00e9sente en personne le jour du t\u00e9l\u00e9thon pour remettre son don.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab Elle s'est approch\u00e9e de moi et de mon coll\u00e8gue, en larmes ; elle nous a serr\u00e9s tous les deux dans ses bras et nous a remerci\u00e9s pour l\u2019impact concret de notre action. C\u2019\u00e9tait la premi\u00e8re fois que je voyais le fruit de notre travail et l\u2019argent que nous collectons profiter \u00e0 une personne en particulier, et cela m\u2019a profond\u00e9ment touch\u00e9. C\u2019est de loin le moment le plus gratifiant que j\u2019ai v\u00e9cu. \u00bb<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

La course 50K des plongeurs de la Marine est pr\u00e9vue le 17 octobre ; les inscriptions sur place d\u00e9buteront \u00e0 7 h et le d\u00e9part sera donn\u00e9 \u00e0 8 h au Centre de conditionnement physique, de sports et de loisirs de Shearwater. Le parcours empruntera les sentiers pittoresques du Shearwater Flyer, de Salt Marsh et d\u2019Atlantic View, pour s\u2019achever \u00e0 15 h.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
