La Flotte canadienne de l'Atlantique (FLTCANANT) a accueilli un nouveau premier ma\u00eetre de la flotte le 24 juillet, lorsque le premier ma\u00eetre de 1re classe (PM 1) Paul Greene a officiellement pris ses fonctions lors d'une c\u00e9r\u00e9monie qui s'est d\u00e9roul\u00e9e sur le pont d'envol du navire canadien de Sa Majest\u00e9 (NCSM) Fr\u00e9d\u00e9rick Rolette.<\/p>\n

Le commandant de FLTCANANT, le commodore (Cmdre) Jacob French, a pr\u00e9sid\u00e9 l'\u00e9v\u00e9nement et a soulign\u00e9 l'importance du poste de premier ma\u00eetre de la flotte au sein de la formation.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab Lorsqu'il est bien assum\u00e9, ce poste constitue un pivot essentiel qui assure la coh\u00e9sion de notre Marine. \u00bb\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Le premier ma\u00eetre de la flotte est le sous-officier le plus haut grad\u00e9 de la flotte. Son r\u00f4le principal consiste \u00e0 faire valoir le point de vue des militaires du rang aupr\u00e8s des hauts responsables.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Le PM 1 Greene succ\u00e8de au premier ma\u00eetre de la flotte sortant, le PM 1 Patrick Mackey.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Faisant le bilan de ses deux ann\u00e9es de mandat, le PM 1 Mackey a soulign\u00e9 le rythme op\u00e9rationnel soutenu de la flotte.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab Nous avions de nombreux navires et unit\u00e9s d\u00e9ploy\u00e9s dans la r\u00e9gion indo-pacifique, en M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e, en mer Baltique, dans les Cara\u00efbes, dans l'Arctique, en Antarctique, en mer Noire et dans de nombreuses autres r\u00e9gions du monde. \u00bb<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ce rythme ne devrait pas ralentir, mais le PM 1 Mackey s'est dit confiant dans la capacit\u00e9 du PM 1 Greene \u00e0 relever le d\u00e9fi, le qualifiant de \u00ab personne absolument id\u00e9ale pour ce poste. \u00bb<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Le nouveau premier ma\u00eetre de la flotte, le PM 1 Paul Greene, met \u00e0 profit ses 27 ann\u00e9es d'exp\u00e9rience dans ses nouvelles fonctions, apr\u00e8s avoir entrepris sa carri\u00e8re dans la Marine en 1999 comme steward. Il occupait jusqu'\u00e0 r\u00e9cemment le poste de timonier \u00e0 bord du NCSM Montr\u00e9al.<\/p>\n

Le nouveau premier ma\u00eetre de la flotte s'est montr\u00e9 enthousiaste face aux d\u00e9fis \u00e0 venir, d\u00e9clarant que la Marine entrait dans une p\u00e9riode passionnante, avec de nouveaux navires et de nouvelles missions \u00e0 l'horizon.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab Ce sont les marins qui font vivre cette Marine, a-t-il d\u00e9clar\u00e9. Nous allons rester concentr\u00e9s sur notre mission, continuer \u00e0 travailler sans rel\u00e2che et remplir notre mission au nom du Canada et des Canadiens. \u00bb<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Il a tenu \u00e0 rendre hommage \u00e0 sa famille pour sa r\u00e9ussite, remerciant son \u00e9pouse, Brandis, et leurs enfants pour leur soutien ind\u00e9fectible.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Dans le cadre de ses nouvelles fonctions, le PM 1 Greene travaillera en \u00e9troite collaboration avec le Cmdre French et le reste de l'\u00e9quipe de commandement des Forces maritimes de l'Atlantique.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Le Cmdre French a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 qu'il se r\u00e9jouissait de travailler avec le PM 1 Greene en tant que premier ma\u00eetre de la flotte.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab Votre mission consiste \u00e0 conseiller le commandant et les autres officiers au sein de la cha\u00eene de commandement, \u00e0 servir de mentor aux marins en comprenant parfaitement leurs difficult\u00e9s, ainsi que celles des capitaines d\u2019armes \u00bb, a-t-il d\u00e9clar\u00e9, soulignant \u00e9galement le r\u00f4le du premier ma\u00eetre en tant que garant du respect des normes \u2013 non seulement en ce qui concerne les aspects ext\u00e9rieurs tels que la tenue et le comportement, mais aussi la culture, la discipline, la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 et l\u2019\u00e9tat de pr\u00e9paration.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Dans l'exercice de ces fonctions, le Cmdre French a d\u00e9crit le PM 1 Mackey, qui quitte ses fonctions, comme un \u00ab partenaire de confiance absolue \u00bb, qui a toujours su relever les d\u00e9fis les plus complexes de la flotte.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Le PM 1 Greene a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 qu'il \u00ab poursuivrait sur la voie \u00bb trac\u00e9e par son pr\u00e9d\u00e9cesseur et qu'il se sentait \u00ab honor\u00e9 \u00bb de repr\u00e9senter les militaires du rang de la flotte.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
