Le Premier ministre Mark Carney \u00e9tait de retour \u00e0 Halifax le 6 juillet. Il est mont\u00e9 \u00e0 bord d'un navire de la Marine royale canadienne (MRC) pour la deuxi\u00e8me fois cette ann\u00e9e afin d'annoncer une d\u00e9cision majeure concernant le projet de sous-marins de patrouille canadiens (PSPC) et l'avenir de la Force sous-marine canadienne.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

S'exprimant sur le pont d'envol du navire canadien de Sa Majest\u00e9 (NCSM) Robert Hampton Gray, le Premier ministre a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que le gouvernement du Canada avait retenu la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 allemande Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) comme fournisseur privil\u00e9gi\u00e9 pour l'acquisition de la prochaine flotte de sous-marins de la MRC. Cela signifie que le Canada va d\u00e9sormais entamer des n\u00e9gociations avec TKMS, l'objectif \u00e9tant de conclure le contrat d'ici \u00e0 la fin de 2027 et d'assurer la livraison des quatre premiers sous-marins (sur un total pouvant aller jusqu'\u00e0 12) d'ici 2034.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

La flotte actuelle de sous-marins de classe Victoria de la MRC, bien qu'elle commence \u00e0 vieillir, restera op\u00e9rationnelle d'ici l\u00e0, son retrait \u00e9tant pr\u00e9vu entre le milieu et la fin des ann\u00e9es 2030.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dot\u00e9 d'une signature acoustique et magn\u00e9tique extr\u00eamement faible, le sous-marin 212CD de TKMS est con\u00e7u pour figurer parmi les sous-marins les plus furtifs au monde. Ce m\u00eame mod\u00e8le est actuellement en cours de d\u00e9veloppement pour les marines allemande et norv\u00e9gienne.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab Il est capable d'effectuer des patrouilles dans l'Arctique, d'assurer une surveillance sous-marine et de d\u00e9ployer des forces sp\u00e9ciales, et il est enti\u00e8rement interop\u00e9rable avec l'OTAN. Cette classe de sous-marins offre une combinaison in\u00e9gal\u00e9e de technologies de pointe et de l\u00e9talit\u00e9 qui permettra \u00e0 la Marine royale canadienne de d\u00e9tecter, de suivre, de dissuader et, si n\u00e9cessaire, de vaincre ses adversaires dans les trois oc\u00e9ans bordant le Canada \u00bb, peut-on lire dans un communiqu\u00e9 publi\u00e9 \u00e0 la suite de cette annonce.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Il a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que le PSPC devrait constituer le plus grand projet d'acquisition dans le domaine de la d\u00e9fense de l'histoire du Canada, s'inscrivant dans le cadre d'un renforcement global des capacit\u00e9s de d\u00e9fense du pays, qui comprend \u00e9galement la livraison r\u00e9cente de navires de patrouille extrac\u00f4tiers et de l'Arctique, ainsi que la construction en cours des destroyers de la classe Fleuves et rivi\u00e8res.<\/span><\/p>\n

Le minist\u00e8re de la D\u00e9fense nationale affirme que le PSPC, en fournissant de nouveaux sous-marins au Canada, contribuera \u00e0 renforcer les engagements plus larges du pays en mati\u00e8re de souverainet\u00e9, de d\u00e9fense continentale et de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 collective avec ses alli\u00e9s, notamment par l'interm\u00e9diaire de l'Organisation du Trait\u00e9 de l'Atlantique Nord (OTAN) et du Commandement de la d\u00e9fense a\u00e9rospatiale de l'Am\u00e9rique du Nord (NORAD).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
