Le Matelot de 1re classe Matthew Ray a \u00e9t\u00e9 reconnu comme le marin du trimestre dernier en date \u00e0 la Flotte canadienne de l'Atlantique, gagnant l'honneur pour son leadership, son professionnalisme et ses contributions aux op\u00e9rations domestiques et \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9tranger.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Le prix a \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 pendant une c\u00e9r\u00e9monie \u00e0 bord du navire canadien de Sa Majest\u00e9 (NCSM) <\/span>Harry DeWolf <\/span><\/i>le 9 juin, rapidement apr\u00e8s que le vaisseau de patrouille extra-c\u00f4tier et de l'Arctique est retourn\u00e9 \u00e0 Halifax suivant une p\u00e9riode de r\u00e9am\u00e9nagement de dix mois au Chantier Davie \u00e0 L\u00e9vis, Qu\u00e9bec.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Selon le dossier de nomination soumis pour le Prix de marin du trimestre, il a effectu\u00e9 ses devoirs au-dessous de son grade tout le trimestre, prenant souvent les responsabilit\u00e9s de supervision pendant l\u2019absence du personnel sup\u00e9rieur, g\u00e9rant les marins juniors, coordonnant du soutien \u00e0 travers les d\u00e9partements et aidant \u00e0 assurer que les t\u00e2ches innombrables soient compl\u00e9t\u00e9es avec succ\u00e8s.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Les contributions significatives du mat 1 Ray pendant l\u2019Op\u00e9ration REGULUS, o\u00f9 il a \u00e9t\u00e9 int\u00e9gr\u00e9 avec la marine chilienne lorsqu\u2019il a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9ploy\u00e9 en Antarctique, \u00e9taient aussi soulign\u00e9es. En soutenant les op\u00e9rations scientifiques dans la r\u00e9gion, il a \u00e9quilibr\u00e9 les devoirs de chef de quart et l\u2019assistance directe aux \u00e9quipes de recherche, aidant \u00e0 am\u00e9liorer l\u2019efficacit\u00e9 des op\u00e9rations de vaisseau et la collection de donn\u00e9es scientifiques en maintenant les normes de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 au milieu des d\u00e9fis.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Au Canada, le mat 1 Ray a continu\u00e9 de se distinguer comme Man\u0153uvrier, soutenant une vari\u00e9t\u00e9 de t\u00e2ches en vue avec importance op\u00e9rationnelle. L\u2019\u00e9quipe a compt\u00e9 sur son expertise pendant les op\u00e9rations de secours \u00e0 base d'eau, incluant un exercice d\u2019urgence nucl\u00e9aire majeur \u00e0 la base et les tours du port impliquant le Chef d'\u00e9tat-major de la D\u00e9fense et les autres invit\u00e9s distingu\u00e9s.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Au-del\u00e0 de ses responsabilit\u00e9s op\u00e9rationnelles, le mat 1 Ray joue un r\u00f4le cl\u00e9 en d\u00e9veloppant la g\u00e9n\u00e9ration prochaine des marins. Il a fourni l\u2019instruction et le mentorat de matelotage, de proc\u00e9dures d\u2019urgence, de routines de pont et de devoirs de quartier-ma\u00eetre, aidant les marins juniors \u00e0 achever des qualifications qui ont augment\u00e9 la capacit\u00e9 g\u00e9n\u00e9rale de veille au navire.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
