Il s'agit d'une reconnaissance symbolique de l'importance continue du Sackville pour la MRC.<\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00ab L'id\u00e9e est de reconna\u00eetre le patrimoine et la culture de la MRC en remettant le navire au go\u00fbt du jour gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 cette mise en service honorifique, et de mettre davantage l'accent sur notre histoire en tant que marine \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 le premier ma\u00eetre de deuxi\u00e8me classe (PM 2) Adam Yardy, actuel capitaine d'armes du NCSM Sackville.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233117&quot;:false,&quot;134233118&quot;:false,&quot;335559738&quot;:240,&quot;335559739&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\" translation-block\">Le Sackville sert de m\u00e9morial naval du Canada et de mus\u00e9e flottant sur le front de mer d'Halifax. Il est g\u00e9r\u00e9 par le Fonds comm\u00e9moratif de la Marine canadienne, l'organisation \u00e0 but non lucratif qui supervise le navire depuis 1982.<\/p>\n<p class=\" translation-block\">Tout comme le NCSM Haida \u00e0 Hamilton, qui est \u00e9galement pr\u00e9serv\u00e9 en tant que mus\u00e9e et sert de navire amiral de la MRC, le Sackville conservera ses fonctions comm\u00e9moratives et \u00e9ducatives. Les navires \u00e9taient charg\u00e9s de prot\u00e9ger les convois de nourriture, de carburant et de munitions qui traversaient l'Atlantique pour se rendre au Royaume-Uni.<\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">L'engagement le plus m\u00e9morable du navire a eu lieu en ao\u00fbt 1942, lorsqu'il a combattu trois U-boote en 24 heures, en mettant deux d'entre eux hors d'\u00e9tat de nuire.
