La M\u00e9daille du service op\u00e9rationnel (MSO) est r\u00e9cemment devenue la troisi\u00e8me distinction permanente canadienne \u00e0 \u00eatre modifi\u00e9e afin de refl\u00e9ter le r\u00e8gne du roi Charles\u202fIII. La D\u00e9coration des Forces canadiennes, portant l\u2019effigie de Sa Majest\u00e9 le Roi, a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9voil\u00e9e et d\u00e9cern\u00e9e pour la premi\u00e8re fois le 12 d\u00e9cembre 2024, tandis que la M\u00e9daille du service sp\u00e9cial, arborant le chiffre royal de Sa Majest\u00e9, a \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e pour la premi\u00e8re fois aux membres de la Force op\u00e9rationnelle a\u00e9rienne \u2013 Prestwick, en \u00c9cosse, le 10 septembre 2025.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

La MSO a \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9e par la reine \u00c9lizabeth\u202fII le 5 juillet 2010 afin de reconna\u00eetre les militaires et les civils qui ont servi dans un th\u00e9\u00e2tre d\u2019op\u00e9rations ou qui ont fourni un appui \u00e0 temps plein direct \u00e0 de telles op\u00e9rations. La MSO reconna\u00eet aussi ceux qui ont servi dans des circonstances dangereuses \u00e0 l\u2019ext\u00e9rieur du Canada, tant que ce service ne soit pas d\u00e9j\u00e0 reconnu par une autre m\u00e9daille de service, \u00e0 l\u2019exception de la M\u00e9daille canadienne du maintien de la paix lorsque cela s\u2019applique. Cette m\u00e9daille est toujours d\u00e9cern\u00e9e avec un ruban propre au th\u00e9\u00e2tre ou au type de service reconnu, et chaque ruban poss\u00e8de ses propres crit\u00e8res. Il existe six rubans associ\u00e9s \u00e0 la MSO. Des barrettes de rotation sont \u00e9galement pr\u00e9vues pour les p\u00e9riodes suppl\u00e9mentaires de service admissible.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Toutes les distinctions honorifiques canadiennes sont cr\u00e9\u00e9es et d\u00e9cern\u00e9es au nom du Souverain, qui est la source des honneurs. Par cons\u00e9quent, le dessin des insignes des distinctions officielles comprend l\u2019effigie, le chiffre royal ou la couronne du monarque, en tant que source de l\u2019honneur. Lors d\u2019un changement de r\u00e8gne, les insignes sont progressivement modifi\u00e9s afin de refl\u00e9ter le nouveau r\u00e8gne.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Depuis sa cr\u00e9ation, la MSO portait l\u2019effigie de sa cr\u00e9atrice, la reine \u00c9lizabeth\u202fII. La nouvelle version, portant d\u00e9sormais l\u2019effigie du Roi, a \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e pour la premi\u00e8re fois \u00e0 44 r\u00e9cipiendaires actuellement d\u00e9ploy\u00e9s au Moyen Orient dans le cadre de l\u2019op\u00e9ration (Op) AMARNA. La c\u00e9r\u00e9monie inaugurale s\u2019est tenue \u00e0 l\u2019ambassade du Canada \u00e0 Amman, en Jordanie, le 2 avril 2026. Le tout premier r\u00e9cipiendaire fut le lieutenant colonel Christopher Scott.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00c0 la suite de cette pr\u00e9sentation inaugurale, la nouvelle version de la MSO sera d\u00e9sormais d\u00e9cern\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019ensemble des Forces arm\u00e9es canadiennes \u00e0 ceux et celles qui sont devenus admissibles durant le r\u00e8gne du Roi et dont la m\u00e9daille est \u00e9mise par la Direction \u2013 distinctions honorifiques et reconnaissance \u00e0 compter du 2 avril 2026. Les MSO d\u00e9j\u00e0 d\u00e9cern\u00e9es demeurent inchang\u00e9es. Les personnes qui se sont qualifi\u00e9es pour la MSO durant le r\u00e8gne de feu la reine continueront de recevoir la version \u00c9lizabeth II \u00e0 l\u2019avenir, et tout remplacement de cette m\u00e9daille se fera par une m\u00e9daille du m\u00eame type.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

En plus de la mise \u00e0 jour n\u00e9cessaire de l\u2019effigie \u00e0 l\u2019avers et de la couronne au revers, l\u2019occasion a \u00e9t\u00e9 saisie pour am\u00e9liorer davantage l\u2019apparence de la m\u00e9daille en donnant un fini givr\u00e9 \u00e0 tous les \u00e9l\u00e9ments en relief, des deux c\u00f4t\u00e9s de la m\u00e9daille.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
