La fr\u00e9gate ITS Alpino (F 594) de la Marine italienne a visit\u00e9 Halifax le 9 mars, amenant avec elle huit marins de la Marine royale canadienne (MRC) actuellement d\u00e9ploy\u00e9s dans le cadre de l\u2019op\u00e9ration REGULUS, un programme d\u2019\u00e9change international pour les officiers subalternes.<\/p>\n

Les marins embarqu\u00e9s, quatre de chaque c\u00f4te, ont rejoint l\u2019Alpino \u00e0 Rota, en Espagne, \u00e0 la mi-janvier et ont depuis \u00e9t\u00e9 pleinement int\u00e9gr\u00e9s \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9quipage du navire, acqu\u00e9rant une exp\u00e9rience pratique dans un large \u00e9ventail d\u2019op\u00e9rations navales.<\/p>\n

Leur d\u00e9ploiement comprenait une travers\u00e9e de l\u2019Atlantique jusqu\u2019\u00e0 Norfolk, en Virginie, o\u00f9 ils ont rencontr\u00e9 des dirigeants de l\u2019US Navy et ont re\u00e7u des perspectives sur l\u2019interop\u00e9rabilit\u00e9 ainsi que sur les possibilit\u00e9s futures en tant qu\u2019officiers de guerre navale. De l\u00e0, l\u2019Alpino a navigu\u00e9 avec le groupe a\u00e9ronaval du USS George H.W. Bush pour participer \u00e0 COMPTUEX, un important exercice de pr\u00e9d\u00e9ploiement.<\/p>\n

Tout au long de l\u2019exercice, les Canadiens ont contribu\u00e9 \u00e0 la passerelle et au centre des op\u00e9rations, en soutenant les communications et la coordination lors d\u2019\u00e9volutions cl\u00e9s telles que le ravitaillement en mer et les exercices PASSEX. En mer, ils ont \u00e9galement acquis de l\u2019exp\u00e9rience en pr\u00e9sentant des briefings m\u00e9t\u00e9orologiques quotidiens, en suivant les officiers de quart et en participant \u00e0 la formation aux op\u00e9rations sur le pont d\u2019envol.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Les escales \u00e0 Boston et \u00e0 New York leur ont offert d\u2019autres occasions de soutenir les activit\u00e9s de sensibilisation du public, d\u2019assister les quarts de service et de d\u00e9couvrir la vie \u00e0 terre, tout en renfor\u00e7ant les liens avec leurs homologues italiens et le public.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Pendant la visite de l\u2019Alpino \u00e0 Halifax, la capitaine de fr\u00e9gate Sara Vinci, commandante du navire, a \u00e9t\u00e9 accueillie \u00e0 bord du NCSM Ville de Qu\u00e9bec par son homologue, le capitaine de fr\u00e9gate Jason Knowles. La visite a donn\u00e9 lieu \u00e0 un \u00e9change de cadeaux, dont du sirop d\u2019\u00e9rable, symbole des relations solides entre le Canada et ses alli\u00e9s de l\u2019OTAN.<\/p>\n

L\u2019op\u00e9ration REGULUS, lanc\u00e9e en 2010, permet au personnel de la MRC de naviguer avec des marines partenaires du monde entier, favorisant le d\u00e9veloppement professionnel et le renforcement des partenariats internationaux. Le programme a impliqu\u00e9 plus de 10 pays, dont l\u2019Australie, le Chili, la France, l\u2019Irlande, l\u2019Italie, la Nouvelle-Z\u00e9lande, le P\u00e9rou, le Portugal, le Royaume-Uni et les \u00c9tats-Unis.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
