Le Navire canadien de Sa Majest\u00e9 (NCSM)\u00a0<\/span>Charlottetown<\/span><\/i>\u00a0a quitt\u00e9 son port d\u2019attache d\u2019Halifax le 1er f\u00e9vrier pour entamer un d\u00e9ploiement dans la r\u00e9gion indo\u2011pacifique \u00e0 l\u2019appui des op\u00e9rations HORIZON et NEON.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Selon les responsables de la Marine royale canadienne, ce d\u00e9ploiement soutiendra les efforts du Canada pour maintenir une pr\u00e9sence navale r\u00e9guli\u00e8re dans une r\u00e9gion dont l\u2019importance strat\u00e9gique et \u00e9conomique ne cesse de cro\u00eetre. Comme d\u2019habitude, le Charlottetown devrait op\u00e9rer pendant la mission aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s des marines alli\u00e9es et partenaires dans le cadre d\u2019exercices multinationaux et d\u2019engagements de coop\u00e9ration.<\/p>\n

L\u2019op\u00e9ration HORIZON est d\u00e9crite dans un communiqu\u00e9 de presse comme la principale mission militaire des Forces arm\u00e9es canadiennes (FAC) dans l\u2019Indo\u2011Pacifique, soutenant la paix et la stabilit\u00e9 conform\u00e9ment au droit international et contribuant aux \u00e9l\u00e9ments de d\u00e9fense de la Strat\u00e9gie indo\u2011pacifique du Canada. L\u2019op\u00e9ration NEON, quant \u00e0 elle, repr\u00e9sente la contribution du Canada \u00e0 un effort multinational visant \u00e0 faire respecter les sanctions impos\u00e9es par le Conseil de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 des Nations Unies contre la Cor\u00e9e du Nord.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

La contre\u2011amirale (Cam) Jos\u00e9e Kurtz, commandante des Forces maritimes de l\u2019Atlantique et de la Force op\u00e9rationnelle interarm\u00e9es de l\u2019Atlantique\u00a0<\/span>a fait remarquer que la r\u00e9gion indo\u2011pacifique joue un r\u00f4le de plus en plus important dans les enjeux qui pr\u00e9occupent les Canadiens, notamment la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 nationale, la prosp\u00e9rit\u00e9 \u00e9conomique, les droits de la personne et la protection de l\u2019environnement. \u00ab C\u2019est pourquoi la Marine royale canadienne d\u00e9ploie chaque ann\u00e9e des navires de guerre pour travailler aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s de nos alli\u00e9s et partenaires dans la r\u00e9gion. Le commandant du NCSM Charlottetown, le capitaine de fr\u00e9gate Jonathan Maurice, a \u00e9galement soulign\u00e9 que l\u2019\u00e9quipage du navire a travaill\u00e9 d\u2019arrache\u2011pied pour se pr\u00e9parer aux deux op\u00e9rations et qu\u2019il est \u00ab fier de repr\u00e9senter le Canada sur la sc\u00e8ne internationale et de contribuer \u00e0 un environnement r\u00e9gional plus s\u00fbr et plus stable. \u00bb<\/p>\n

\u00ab C\u2019est la premi\u00e8re fois que le\u00a0<\/span>Charlottetown<\/span><\/i>\u00a0participe \u00e0 cette op\u00e9ration, et il s\u2019agit d\u2019un d\u00e9ploiement important pour notre navire et notre \u00e9quipage.
