La soir\u00e9e d\u2019appr\u00e9ciation des b\u00e9n\u00e9voles CANEX Gives Back a offert un rappel chaleureux et vibrant de ce que signifie vraiment la communaut\u00e9. Les m\u00e9lodies des F\u00eates ont donn\u00e9 un ton douillet aux invit\u00e9s qui entraient, leurs conversations et leurs rires s\u2019entrem\u00ealant comme une trame sonore festive. Les repr\u00e9sentantes de CANEX, Sasha Smith, surveillante du magasin de Shearwater, et Michelle Berkman, surveillante du magasin de Halifax, \u00e9taient pr\u00e9sentes pour accueillir les b\u00e9n\u00e9voles et \u00e9changer avec eux pendant que la foule se m\u00ealait. Les b\u00e9n\u00e9voles des Programmes de soutien du personnel (PSP), des loisirs communautaires et du Centre de ressources pour les familles des militaires d\u2019Halifax et r\u00e9gions (CRFM H&R), dont le d\u00e9vouement est \u00e0 l\u2019origine d\u2019une grande partie de ce que nos programmes peuvent accomplir, ont \u00e9t\u00e9 c\u00e9l\u00e9br\u00e9s avec un d\u00e9licieux g\u00e2teau au fromage et une soir\u00e9e au th\u00e9\u00e2tre. Les invit\u00e9s r\u00e9unis au Th\u00e9\u00e2tre Neptune ont eu droit \u00e0 un classique, The Wizard of Oz (Le magicien d\u2019Oz). \u00c0 en juger par les rires et les applaudissements tout au long du spectacle, celui-ci a \u00e9t\u00e9 tr\u00e8s appr\u00e9ci\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Cette ann\u00e9e, les b\u00e9n\u00e9voles des PSP et du CRFM H&R ont donn\u00e9 6 896 heures de leur temps. \u00c9valu\u00e9e selon le salaire minimum, cette contribution repr\u00e9sente une valeur de 113 784 $. Mais la v\u00e9ritable valeur du travail b\u00e9n\u00e9vole ne se mesure pas en dollars. Ce sont les retomb\u00e9es, \u00e0 la fois tangibles et intangibles, qui se font sentir chaque jour dans cette communaut\u00e9.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab Les retomb\u00e9es de vos actions soutiennent cette communaut\u00e9 \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Shelley Hopkins, directrice ex\u00e9cutive du CRFM H&R. \u00ab Notre mission est de renforcer le bien-\u00eatre de tous ceux qui partagent l\u2019exp\u00e9rience unique de la vie militaire, et sans nos pr\u00e9cieux b\u00e9n\u00e9voles, nous ne pourrions pas nous acquitter de cette mission. \u00bb\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Un sentiment auquel a fait \u00e9cho Mike Almond, gestionnaire sup\u00e9rieur des PSP, soulignant que \u00ab la collaboration entre les PSP et le CRFM se fait avec d\u00e9termination et c\u0153ur afin d\u2019am\u00e9liorer la vie et le bien-\u00eatre de la communaut\u00e9 des Forces arm\u00e9es canadiennes (FAC). \u00bb\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00c9taient \u00e9galement pr\u00e9sents la commandante de la base de la BFC Halifax, la capitaine de vaisseau (Capv) Annick Fortin, le premier ma\u00eetre de la base, le premier ma\u00eetre de 1re classe Troy Beazley, ainsi que le commandant de la 12e Escadre de soutien op\u00e9rationnel, le lieutenant-colonel (Lcol) Nick Veenhof. La Capv Fortin a remerci\u00e9 l\u2019ensemble des b\u00e9n\u00e9voles et a soulign\u00e9 l\u2019impact de leur travail.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab Merci pour le soutien ind\u00e9fectible que vous apportez \u00e0 nos membres \u00bb, a-t-elle d\u00e9clar\u00e9, notant que de nombreux membres ont mentionn\u00e9 qu\u2019\u00ab il est formidable de travailler ici \u00e0 cause de la communaut\u00e9 \u00bb, avant de conclure qu\u2019il s\u2019agit d\u2019\u00ab un honneur de servir \u00e0 vos c\u00f4t\u00e9s. \u00bb<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

La commandante de la 12e Escadre Shearwater, la colonel Tara Willis, \u00e9tait absente de l\u2019\u00e9v\u00e9nement. Le commandant int\u00e9rimaire de l\u2019Escadre et commandant du 423e Escadron, le Lcol Kris Sutton, a transmis ses remerciements \u00e0 tous les b\u00e9n\u00e9voles pour leur engagement, soulignant que \u00ab nous remarquons certainement le soutien des b\u00e9n\u00e9voles au sein de l\u2019Escadre et que nous appr\u00e9cions grandement tout ce soutien. \u00bb<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Au-del\u00e0 des divertissements et des discours, l\u2019esprit de g\u00e9n\u00e9rosit\u00e9 \u00e9tait bien pr\u00e9sent. Dans un coin de la salle, Darrell Ling, ancien combattant de la FAC et athl\u00e8te des Jeux Invictus, avait install\u00e9 une bo\u00eete de dons pour la collecte annuelle de chaussettes Spare a Pair. Au cours des deux derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es, gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 votre soutien, Darrell a pu remettre plus de 1 300 paires de chaussettes \u00e0 des personnes dans le besoin. \n

\nPour illustrer \u00e0 quel point la g\u00e9n\u00e9rosit\u00e9 de notre communaut\u00e9 de b\u00e9n\u00e9voles est in\u00e9puisable, Helen Birch, du club de plong\u00e9e Shearwater, en est un parfait exemple. Gagnante du tirage d\u2019une carte-cadeau CANEX d\u2019une valeur de 50 $, elle s\u2019est approch\u00e9e discr\u00e8tement de Darrell apr\u00e8s les discours pour lui remettre sa carte-cadeau au profit de la collecte de chaussettes. Pour Helen, cette chance repr\u00e9sentait simplement une occasion de plus de donner.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Alors que la soir\u00e9e touchait \u00e0 sa fin, un th\u00e8me s\u2019est impos\u00e9 : la gratitude. C\u2019est gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 nos b\u00e9n\u00e9voles que nos programmes prosp\u00e8rent, que notre communaut\u00e9 demeure connect\u00e9e et que tant de personnes se sentent soutenues tout au long de l\u2019ann\u00e9e.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
