En d\u00e9cembre, trois membres ont pass\u00e9 une journ\u00e9e \u00e0 terre pour soutenir Coastal Action, une organisation environnementale bas\u00e9e \u00e0 South Shore qui se consacre \u00e0 la recherche, \u00e0 l'\u00e9ducation et \u00e0 des travaux de restauration pratiques.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">La matelot de 1re classe (Mat 1) Hailey Imeson, le Lieutenant de vaisseau (Ltv) Ren\u00e9 De Ha\u00eetre et le ma\u00eetre de 2e classe (M 2) Kiefer Frenette ont fait du b\u00e9n\u00e9volat au site \u00ab Happy Landing \u00bb de l'organisation \u00e0 Brooklyn, en Nouvelle-\u00c9cosse, o\u00f9 ils ont particip\u00e9 \u00e0 l'initiative de recyclage des cordages et des filets marins.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Pendant leur visite, les membres de\u00a0<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Windsor<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0ont aid\u00e9 \u00e0 trier et \u00e0 pr\u00e9parer les cordages et filets de p\u00eache usag\u00e9s collect\u00e9s aupr\u00e8s des communaut\u00e9s de p\u00eacheurs locales. Le mat\u00e9riel a \u00e9t\u00e9 tri\u00e9 par cat\u00e9gorie de recyclage et plac\u00e9 dans de grands sacs afin de faciliter sa manipulation et son traitement avant d'\u00eatre d\u00e9chiquet\u00e9 pour \u00eatre recycl\u00e9. Ces efforts contribuent \u00e0 d\u00e9tourner les d\u00e9chets plastiques des d\u00e9charges et des milieux marins tout en soutenant les objectifs de l'\u00e9conomie circulaire. La visite a \u00e9galement permis \u00e0 l'\u00e9quipage de se familiariser avec les diff\u00e9rents types de plastiques utilis\u00e9s dans les engins de p\u00eache et les impacts environnementaux associ\u00e9s aux mat\u00e9riaux mis au rebut.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Rodrigo Menafra, directeur adjoint de Coastal Action, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que la contribution du personnel de\u00a0<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Windsor<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0\u00e9tait \u00e0 la fois opportune et pr\u00e9cieuse.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00ab Coastal Action est reconnaissante envers le personnel du NCSM\u00a0<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Windsor<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0et son soutien \u00e0 notre initiative de recyclage des cordages et des filets marins \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Menafra. \u00ab Les valeurs des Forces arm\u00e9es canadiennes en mati\u00e8re d'engagement communautaire, de travail d'\u00e9quipe et de responsabilit\u00e9 environnementale correspondent parfaitement aux id\u00e9aux de Coastal Action. L'exp\u00e9rience du personnel de la Marine, qui travaille dans des conditions dangereuses tout en g\u00e9rant les risques et la s\u00e9curit\u00e9, a \u00e9t\u00e9 un exemple exceptionnel pour Coastal Action. On sera toujours heureux de b\u00e9n\u00e9ficier \u00e0 nouveau de leur soutien ! \u00bb<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Au-del\u00e0 de l'accomplissement du travail physique, l'exp\u00e9rience des marins en mati\u00e8re d'\u00e9valuation des risques et de proc\u00e9dures de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 s'est \u00e9galement av\u00e9r\u00e9e b\u00e9n\u00e9fique pour les op\u00e9rations de l'organisation. \u00ab Disposer d'un groupe de b\u00e9n\u00e9voles bien form\u00e9s, hautement qualifi\u00e9s et travaillant dur est essentiel pour notre projet, car celui-ci repose en grande partie sur le travail manuel \u00bb a ajout\u00e9 Menafra.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Coastal Action est un organisme sans but lucratif bas\u00e9 \u00e0 Mahone Bay qui \u0153uvre depuis plus de 30 ans \u00e0 la protection et \u00e0 la restauration de l'environnement en Nouvelle-\u00c9cosse et dans les provinces de l'Atlantique. Son travail s'articule autour de cinq grands axes : les esp\u00e8ces en p\u00e9ril et la biodiversit\u00e9, l'\u00e9ducation environnementale, les bassins versants et la qualit\u00e9 de l'eau, le littoral et le milieu marin, et les changements climatiques.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Cette initiative b\u00e9n\u00e9vole a eu lieu pendant que le NCSM\u00a0<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Windsor<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0subissait une longue p\u00e9riode de travaux en cale s\u00e8che, ce qui a permis aux membres d'\u00e9quipage rest\u00e9s \u00e0 Halifax de participer \u00e0 des initiatives communautaires significatives.
