Lors de son r\u00e9cent d\u00e9ploiement dans le cadre de l\u2019op\u00e9ration HORIZON, le Navire canadien de Sa Majest\u00e9 (NCSM) Ville de Qu\u00e9bec a d\u00e9montr\u00e9 que la g\u00e9n\u00e9rosit\u00e9 s\u2019\u00e9tend bien au-del\u00e0 des eaux nationales. L\u2019\u00e9quipage du navire a recueilli plus de 7 000 $ pour deux organismes de la Campagne de charit\u00e9 en milieu de travail de la D\u00e9fense nationale (CCMTDN) : la Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Alzheimer du Canada et la Fondation R\u00eaves d\u2019enfants Canada.<\/p>\n

Tout au long des derniers mois du d\u00e9ploiement, les marins ont organis\u00e9 une s\u00e9rie d\u2019activit\u00e9s de collecte de fonds cr\u00e9atives. Chaque initiative \u00e9tait dirig\u00e9e par un membre de l\u2019\u00e9quipage, qui choisissait \u00e9galement l\u2019organisme de bienfaisance qu\u2019il souhaitait appuyer, faisant de chaque dollar amass\u00e9 une contribution personnelle \u00e0 une cause qui lui tenait \u00e0 c\u0153ur.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

La campagne de financement a \u00e9t\u00e9 lanc\u00e9e par Une coupe de cheveux sp\u00e9ciale, une activit\u00e9 organis\u00e9e par le caporal-chef (Cplc) Nick Soucy, technicien en m\u00e9t\u00e9orologie \u00e0 bord du NCSM VDQ. Ayant laiss\u00e9 pousser ses cheveux pendant des mois, le Cplc Soucy a invit\u00e9 l\u2019\u00e9quipage \u00e0 miser sur la coupe qu\u2019il adopterait. Une mise de 300 $ garantissait une coupe \u00ab mulet \u00bb, 750 $ une coupe \u00ab faux hawk \u00bb, et ainsi de suite. En fin de compte, les dons ont afflu\u00e9 et ont permis de recueillir la somme impressionnante de 2 500 $ au profit de la Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Alzheimer du Canada. Arborant une nouvelle coupe ras\u00e9e, le Cplc Soucy a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 : \u00ab Ma grand-m\u00e8re souffre de d\u00e9mence, donc c\u2019est quelque chose de tr\u00e8s personnel pour moi. Cela me touche directement, et je veux \u00e9galement soutenir d\u2019autres familles qui vivent la m\u00eame chose. \u00bb<\/p>\n

S\u2019en est suivi l\u2019initiative Escape the Ship (\u00e9vasion du navire), une tombola organis\u00e9e par le ma\u00eetre de 1re classe (M 1) Francis L\u00e9gar\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019appui de la Fondation R\u00eaves d\u2019enfants Canada. Le prix? Une occasion rare pour quelques marins chanceux, et la personne de leur choix, de profiter d\u2019un cong\u00e9 suppl\u00e9mentaire \u00e0 terre \u00e0 Pearl Harbor, \u00e0 Hawa\u00ef, pendant que le reste de l\u2019\u00e9quipage s'acquittait de la t\u00e2che fastidieuse de l\u2019accostage. L\u2019id\u00e9e a connu un succ\u00e8s instantan\u00e9, et a permis de recueillir plus de 3 700 $. \u00ab C\u2019est toujours agr\u00e9able de voir l\u2019enthousiasme se r\u00e9pandre \u00e0 bord du navire \u00bb, d\u00e9clare le M 1 L\u00e9gar\u00e9. \u00ab Le NCSM Ville de Qu\u00e9bec soutient la Fondation R\u00eaves d\u2019enfants Canada depuis un certain temps, et je suis fier d\u2019y contribuer. \u00bb<\/p>\n

Enfin, le navire a cl\u00f4tur\u00e9 la campagne par un Encan silencieux de casquettes. Le commandant a donn\u00e9 huit nouvelles casquettes recueillies aupr\u00e8s de navires et d\u2019organismes avec lesquels le NCSM VDQ a collabor\u00e9 pendant le d\u00e9ploiement. Des feuilles de l\u2019encan silencieux ont \u00e9t\u00e9 affich\u00e9es dans les couloirs, et la comp\u00e9tition a \u00e9t\u00e9 f\u00e9roce \u2014 particuli\u00e8rement dans les derni\u00e8res minutes avant la cl\u00f4ture. Au final, tout le monde est reparti satisfait, et l\u2019activit\u00e9 a permis d\u2019amasser 834 $ suppl\u00e9mentaires pour la Fondation R\u00eaves d\u2019enfants Canada.<\/p>\n
