Apr\u00e8s 13 mois d\u2019entra\u00eenement \u00e0 la surface et dans les profondeurs de l\u2019oc\u00e9an, 12 nouveaux plongeurs-d\u00e9mineurs se montrent fiers.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Le 10 octobre, \u00e0 l\u2019Unit\u00e9 de plong\u00e9e de la Flotte (Pacifique) (FDU[P]), 12 stagiaires ont officiellement obtenu leur qualification de niveau 1 (NQ1) de plongeur-d\u00e9mineur 2025, marquant ainsi une \u00e9tape importante dans leur carri\u00e8re au sein de la Marine royale canadienne (MRC). Chaque dipl\u00f4m\u00e9 re\u00e7oit l\u2019insigne de dauphin du plongeur-d\u00e9mineur, qui symbolise sa r\u00e9ussite et son aptitude \u00e0 servir.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Parmi les dipl\u00f4m\u00e9s figure le matelot de 3e classe (mat 3) Thomas Fournier, qui s\u2019est enr\u00f4l\u00e9 dans la MRC gr\u00e2ce au programme Exp\u00e9rience de la Marine (PEM) en 2023. Originaire de Muskoka, en Ontario, le Mat 3 Fournier a r\u00e9ussi avec brio les \u00e9preuves du Centre d\u2019\u00e9valuation des plongeurs-d\u00e9mineurs en f\u00e9vrier 2024.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab Cette ann\u00e9e pass\u00e9e \u00e0 suivre le cours de plongeur-d\u00e9mineur a \u00e9t\u00e9 la meilleure de ma vie. De multiples occasions se sont pr\u00e9sent\u00e9es pour m\u2019\u00e9panouir personnellement, progresser professionnellement et renforcer chez moi le sens de l\u2019esprit d\u2019\u00e9quipe. J\u2019ai \u00e9t\u00e9 entour\u00e9 et soutenu par toutes les personnes avec lesquelles j\u2019ai travaill\u00e9. J\u2019ai \u00e9volu\u00e9 \u00e0 bien des \u00e9gards et je suis pr\u00eat \u00e0 apporter ma contribution o\u00f9 que j\u2019aille en tant que plongeur-d\u00e9mineur \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 le Mat 3 Fournier.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Les plongeurs-d\u00e9mineurs sont les sp\u00e9cialistes du d\u00e9minage en eaux profondes au sein des Forces arm\u00e9es canadiennes (FAC). Ils utilisent divers \u00e9quipements de plong\u00e9e, notamment des appareils respiratoires \u00e0 air comprim\u00e9, des appareils de respiration \u00e0 circuit ferm\u00e9 et des appareils respiratoires non autonomes. Ils interviennent aussi bien sous l\u2019eau que sur terre, o\u00f9 ils ont particip\u00e9 \u00e0 des missions en Afghanistan pour neutraliser des engins explosifs improvis\u00e9s. Les plongeurs-d\u00e9mineurs apportent \u00e9galement leur soutien aux services de sant\u00e9 en offrant des traitements de recompression et des services de recherche et de sauvetage de sous-marins, ainsi qu\u2019en assurant un entretien du mat\u00e9riel de plong\u00e9e pour toutes les \u00e9quipes de plong\u00e9e des FAC, y compris les techniciens en recherche et sauvetage et les plongeurs de combat.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Certains des nouveaux plongeurs-d\u00e9mineurs commenceront leur carri\u00e8re \u00e0 l\u2019\u00c9cole de plong\u00e9e, o\u00f9 ils formeront la prochaine g\u00e9n\u00e9ration de plongeurs des FAC. D\u2019autres participeront aux r\u00e9parations et \u00e0 l\u2019entretien sous-marins des navires canadiens de Sa Majest\u00e9 et prendront part \u00e0 des op\u00e9rations de r\u00e9cup\u00e9ration et de d\u00e9minage avec les unit\u00e9s de plong\u00e9e de la flotte du Pacifique et de l'Atlantique.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Les plongeurs-d\u00e9mineurs sont \u00e9galement sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9s dans la neutralisation de munitions conventionnelles (niveau avanc\u00e9), pour remplir le mandat des FAC relatif \u00e0 la neutralisation des explosifs et munitions sur le plan national. Pour cela, les plongeurs, souvent ceux qui ont le grade de matelot de 1re classe, doivent se d\u00e9placer dans toute la Colombie-Britannique pour r\u00e9cup\u00e9rer et \u00e9liminer en toute s\u00e9curit\u00e9 des munitions militaires non explos\u00e9es.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Le Mat 3 Fournier est pr\u00eat \u00e0 participer \u00e0 toutes sortes d\u2019op\u00e9rations et d\u2019exercices, y compris l\u2019op\u00e9ration REASSURANCE en mer Baltique ou en mer Noire, l\u2019op\u00e9ration RENDER SAFE dans le Pacifique ou l\u2019op\u00e9ration HORIZON aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s des alli\u00e9s du Canada dans la r\u00e9gion indopacifique.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab Nous sommes toujours \u00e0 la recherche de personnes en bonne forme physique, intelligentes et d\u00e9sireuses de devenir plongeurs-d\u00e9mineurs. Nous sommes en pleine p\u00e9riode de reconstitution, o\u00f9 nous nous employons \u00e0 augmenter le nombre de plongeurs-d\u00e9mineurs pour soutenir les op\u00e9rations des FAC. J\u2019encourage les gens \u00e0 postuler pour ce qui est sans doute l\u2019un des meilleurs emplois de la Marine \u00bb, a pr\u00e9cis\u00e9 le lieutenant de vaisseau Michael Cormie.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Le reclassement volontaire vers le GPM de plongeur-d\u00e9mineur est offert aux militaires du rang de tous les groupes professionnels, qu\u2019ils aient ou non une exp\u00e9rience pr\u00e9alable en plong\u00e9e. Des changements r\u00e9cemment apport\u00e9s autorisent d\u00e9sormais les officiers de tous les groupes professionnels, qu\u2019ils soient de la Force r\u00e9guli\u00e8re ou de la R\u00e9serve, \u00e0 se pr\u00e9senter au Centre d\u2019\u00e9valuation des plongeurs-d\u00e9mineurs afin de devenir officiers plongeurs-d\u00e9mineurs.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
