Plus d\u2019une vingtaine de membres des Forces arm\u00e9es canadiennes (FAC), provenant de tous les \u00e9l\u00e9ments et de toutes les composantes, ont pris la mer \u00e0 Halifax les 2 et 3 octobre pour participer \u00e0 une r\u00e9gate amicale de deux jours organis\u00e9e par les Programmes de soutien du personnel (PSP) Halifax au Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron (RNSYS).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Cette activit\u00e9 r\u00e9cr\u00e9ative destin\u00e9e aux amateurs de voile a r\u00e9uni six \u00e9quipes qui se sont affront\u00e9es dans une s\u00e9rie de plus d\u2019une douzaine de courses \u00e0 bord des voiliers J\/22 du RNSYS, dans le bras nord-ouest. Le capitaine de corvette (Capc) Kevin Pallard, qui g\u00e8re \u00e9galement le programme international de voile du CISM des FAC, a dirig\u00e9 les efforts d\u2019organisation aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s du personnel des PSP et a lui-m\u00eame pris part \u00e0 la comp\u00e9tition.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab L\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat pour cet \u00e9v\u00e9nement a \u00e9t\u00e9 ph\u00e9nom\u00e9nal \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 le Capc Pallard, soulignant que le nombre limit\u00e9 de places a oblig\u00e9 certains membres int\u00e9ress\u00e9s \u00e0 \u00eatre refus\u00e9s.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab Le RNSYS a \u00e9galement \u00e9t\u00e9 un excellent h\u00f4te et a assur\u00e9 une tr\u00e8s bonne gestion des courses. \u00bb<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Malgr\u00e9 des vents l\u00e9gers et changeants le premier jour, qui ont dispers\u00e9 la flotte sur le parcours, les marins ont b\u00e9n\u00e9fici\u00e9 de conditions plus stables le deuxi\u00e8me jour, ce qui a donn\u00e9 lieu \u00e0 des \u00e9preuves serr\u00e9es et \u00e0 quelques arriv\u00e9es palpitantes.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Apr\u00e8s deux jours de comp\u00e9tition, l\u2019\u00e9quipe repr\u00e9sentant le Navire canadien de Sa Majest\u00e9 (NCSM) Scotian, men\u00e9e par le matelot-chef Dylan Scott et compos\u00e9e d\u2019Alex Harvey, d\u2019Anthony Newton et d\u2019Andrew Saweczko, a remport\u00e9 la premi\u00e8re place. L\u2019\u00e9quipe form\u00e9e de Jesline Baker, de Samantha Jamieson, de Brendan Puddington et de Carissa Dort a termin\u00e9 deuxi\u00e8me, tandis que l\u2019\u00e9quipage enti\u00e8rement compos\u00e9 de membres de Tech-Mar \u2014 Nicolaas Smies, Christopher Walker, Zack Morris et Gordon Shanahan \u2014 s\u2019est class\u00e9 troisi\u00e8me.<\/p>\n

Compte tenu de la forte participation et de l\u2019enthousiasme des participants, le Capc Pallard a indiqu\u00e9 esp\u00e9rer collaborer avec les PSP et la communaut\u00e9 nautique des FAC afin de soutenir davantage d\u2019initiatives de ce genre \u00e0 l\u2019avenir.<\/span><\/p>\n
