de deux d\u00e9cennies pass\u00e9es \u00e0 servir le Canada au pays et \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9tranger, tout en contribuant \u00e0 la formation de g\u00e9n\u00e9rations de r\u00e9servistes navals, cinq des navires de la classe Kingston de la Marine royale canadienne (MRC) s\u2019appr\u00eatent \u00e0 prendre le large.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\" translation-block\">Une c\u00e9r\u00e9monie de mise hors service des Navires canadiens de Sa Majest\u00e9 (NCSM) Kingston, Glace Bay, Shawinigan, Goose Bay et Summerside a eu lieu le 3 octobre \u00e0 l\u2019Arsenal canadien de Sa Majest\u00e9, marquant ainsi leur mise hors service officielle.<\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00ab Ces cinq navires ont \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019avant-garde des engagements op\u00e9rationnels de la flotte et ont accompli leurs missions de fa\u00e7on exceptionnelle \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 le commodore (Cmdre) Jacob French, commandant de la Flotte canadienne de l\u2019Atlantique, lors de la c\u00e9r\u00e9monie.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\" translation-block\">Les 12 navires de la classe Kingston arrivent \u00e0 la fin de leur vie utile. Les NCSM Brandon, Yellowknife et Saskatoon ont \u00e9t\u00e9 officiellement mis hors service \u00e0 la base des Forces canadiennes Esquimalt le 29 septembre.<\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Le Cmdre French a fait l\u2019\u00e9loge des navires de la classe Kingston, de petits navires qui ont eu un impact important sur la MRC.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00ab Ils repr\u00e9sentent un h\u00e9ritage de service, un h\u00e9ritage de \u201cpetit mais puissant\u201d, un h\u00e9ritage de \u201cPr\u00eat, Oui, Pr\u00eat\u201d\u2026 Les navires peuvent cr\u00e9er une petite vague, mais ce sillage se r\u00e9percute sur des g\u00e9n\u00e9rations de marins inspir\u00e9s. \u00bb<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Au cours de leur service, les navires de la classe Kingston ont \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9ploy\u00e9s dans le cadre de diverses missions, notamment des patrouilles c\u00f4ti\u00e8res, des op\u00e9rations de surveillance, de lutte contre la drogue et la piraterie, des op\u00e9rations de d\u00e9minage, des op\u00e9rations de recherche et de sauvetage, etc. Ils ont \u00e9galement particip\u00e9 r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement \u00e0 des op\u00e9rations nationales et internationales telles que l\u2019op\u00e9ration Caribbe, l\u2019op\u00e9ration Projection et l\u2019op\u00e9ration Nanook.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00ab L\u2019un des effets les plus transformateurs de la classe Kingston a \u00e9t\u00e9 la fa\u00e7on dont son introduction a modifi\u00e9 la r\u00e9serve navale \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 le contre-amiral (Cam) Michael Hopper, chef de la r\u00e9serve des Forces arm\u00e9es canadiennes.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00ab Ces navires ont \u00e9t\u00e9 les premiers de notre flotte \u00e0 \u00eatre con\u00e7us dans le but explicite d\u2019int\u00e9grer les marins de r\u00e9serve dans un service op\u00e9rationnel \u00e0 plein temps. Ils ont ouvert la voie \u00e0 la mise \u00e0 jour et \u00e0 la modernisation de la formation des r\u00e9servistes, ont revitalis\u00e9 la force de r\u00e9serve et ont donn\u00e9 \u00e0 des milliers de marins citoyens la possibilit\u00e9 de servir en mer. \u00bb<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Le terme \u00ab paying off \u00bb en anglais vient d\u2019une ancienne pratique de la Marine royale britannique qui consistait \u00e0 ne payer les salaires de l\u2019\u00e9quipage qu\u2019\u00e0 la fin du voyage. La MRC emprunte ce terme pour d\u00e9crire le d\u00e9classement officiel d\u2019un navire. Il est marqu\u00e9 par l\u2019abaissement et le retrait de l\u2019enseigne navale et du fanion de mise en service, suivis du d\u00e9part d\u00e9finitif de l\u2019\u00e9quipage. Par la suite, le navire cesse d\u2019\u00eatre d\u00e9sign\u00e9 sous le nom de Navire canadien de Sa Majest\u00e9.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">En raison du calendrier charg\u00e9 de la MRC, il n\u2019y a pas eu de d\u00e9part d\u00e9finitif de l\u2019\u00e9quipage des cinq navires lors de la c\u00e9r\u00e9monie, l\u2019\u00e9quipage de chaque navire ayant d\u00e9j\u00e0 \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9affect\u00e9.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Les navires de la classe Kingston sont le r\u00e9sultat du projet de navire de d\u00e9fense c\u00f4ti\u00e8re lanc\u00e9 \u00e0 la fin des ann\u00e9es 1980. Ce projet visait \u00e0 remplacer les dragueurs de mines de classe Bay de la MRC, datant de la guerre froide, par un navire polyvalent qui pourrait \u00e9galement servir \u00e0 la formation des r\u00e9servistes et \u00e0 la patrouille c\u00f4ti\u00e8re.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\" translation-block\">La production des 12 navires de la classe Kingston a commenc\u00e9 en 1993 au chantier naval de Halifax. Le navire principal, le NCSM Kingston, a \u00e9t\u00e9 mis en service le 21 septembre 1996. Le NCSM Summerside a \u00e9t\u00e9 le dernier navire \u00e0 \u00eatre construit ; il a \u00e9t\u00e9 mis en service le 18 juillet 1999.<\/p>\n<p class=\" translation-block\">La classe Kingston n\u2019est pas encore totalement retir\u00e9e du service. Quatre des navires, le NCSM Moncton, le NCSM Yellowknife, le NCSM Edmonton et le NCSM Nanaimo, sont toujours en service. Ces quatre navires seront d\u00e9sormais bas\u00e9s sur la c\u00f4te Est et regroup\u00e9s au sein des Forces maritimes de l\u2019Atlantique. Le NCSM Nanaimo a r\u00e9cemment quitt\u00e9 Esquimalt pour la derni\u00e8re fois et fait actuellement route vers Halifax.<\/p>\n<p class=\" translation-block\">La MRC affirme que les navires restants continueront \u00e0 soutenir les engagements op\u00e9rationnels jusqu\u2019\u00e0 ce qu\u2019ils soient progressivement retir\u00e9s du service au cours des prochaines ann\u00e9es. Le NCSM Yellowknife devrait \u00eatre mis hors service en 2026, suivi du NCSM Edmonton en 2027 et des NCSM Moncton et Nanaimo en 2028.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u2018Small
