Le navire canadien de Sa Majest\u00e9 (NCSM) Ville de Qu\u00e9bec est d\u00e9ploy\u00e9 depuis avril dans le cadre de l'op\u00e9ration Horizon dans la r\u00e9gion indo-pacifique, et il ne ralentit pas pour autant. L'\u00e9quipe \u00e0 bord a r\u00e9cemment accueilli de nouveaux membres d'\u00e9quipage et a particip\u00e9 \u00e0 un grand exercice multinational pr\u00e8s des Philippines, alors qu'elle entame la seconde moiti\u00e9 d'une mission de sept mois.<\/p>\n

Le navire s'est joint aux marines partenaires et \u00e0 d'autres militaires pour l'exercice Alon 25, marquant la premi\u00e8re participation d'un navire de la Marine royale canadienne (MRC) \u00e0 cet \u00e9v\u00e9nement, qui s'est d\u00e9roul\u00e9 du 15 au 29 ao\u00fbt. Bien que principalement con\u00e7u comme une initiative bilat\u00e9rale entre l'Australie et les Philippines, l'exercice a \u00e9galement b\u00e9n\u00e9fici\u00e9 de la contribution des \u00c9tats-Unis, en plus de la participation du Canada avec le NCSM Ville de Qu\u00e9bec.<\/p>\n

L'exercice Alon a donn\u00e9 lieu \u00e0 une s\u00e9rie d'\u00e9volutions exigeantes en mati\u00e8re de guerre navale et de matelotage. L'\u00e9quipage du navire a men\u00e9 des exercices combin\u00e9s de lutte anti-sous-marine (CASEX), simulant des menaces sous-marines \u00e0 l'aide de cibles d'entra\u00eenement mobiles dans l'eau. Des exercices de d\u00e9fense a\u00e9rienne (ADEX) ont suivi, avec des F-18 de la Force a\u00e9rienne royale australienne lan\u00e7ant des \u00ab attaques \u00bb simul\u00e9es contre la formation, testant ainsi l'\u00e9tat de pr\u00e9paration des syst\u00e8mes de combat des navires.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Le d\u00e9tachement d'h\u00e9licopt\u00e8res embarqu\u00e9s et l'h\u00e9licopt\u00e8re CH-148 Cyclone, indicatif d'appel \u00ab Avalanche \u00bb, ont \u00e9galement jou\u00e9 un r\u00f4le actif. Les techniciens et les \u00e9quipages ont suivi une formation crois\u00e9e, effectuant des hissages \u00e0 bord du HMAS Brisbane tout en accueillant leurs homologues australiens pour des hissages sur le Ville de Qu\u00e9bec. Des h\u00e9licopt\u00e8res canadiens et australiens ont \u00e9galement vol\u00e9 ensemble pendant l'exercice afin de d\u00e9montrer la flexibilit\u00e9 de l'aviation embarqu\u00e9e et l'int\u00e9gration air-mer.<\/p>\n

Les marins ont \u00e9t\u00e9 transf\u00e9r\u00e9s d'un navire \u00e0 l'autre dans le cadre d'activit\u00e9s de pollinisation crois\u00e9e. Le Ville de Qu\u00e9bec a accueilli des visiteurs du BRP Jose Rizal de la marine philippine et du HMAS Brisbane de la marine royale australienne, tandis que les marins canadiens sont mont\u00e9s \u00e0 bord des navires partenaires pour observer le fonctionnement des autres marines en mer.<\/p>\n

D'autres activit\u00e9s ont \u00e9t\u00e9 ax\u00e9es sur l'interop\u00e9rabilit\u00e9. Le Ville de Qu\u00e9bec a particip\u00e9 \u00e0 des man\u0153uvres d'officier de quart avec le HMAS Brisbane, le BRP Jose Rizal, le BRP Gener Tinangag et le BRP Domingo Deluana, affinant ainsi les comp\u00e9tences en mati\u00e8re de man\u0153uvre et de coordination des navires entre plusieurs marines.<\/p>\n

Lanc\u00e9 en 2023 par l'Australie et les Philippines, l'exercice Alon a \u00e9largi son champ d'application. L'\u00e9dition de cette ann\u00e9e a r\u00e9uni plus de 3 600 personnes, dont 1 600 membres des forces de d\u00e9fense australiennes et 1 525 membres des forces arm\u00e9es philippines. La Force de rotation des Marines am\u00e9ricains \u00e0 Darwin a ajout\u00e9 environ 350 membres du personnel, tandis que le Canada a fourni le NCSM Ville de Qu\u00e9bec et ses quelque 180 marins et aviateurs.<\/p>\n

L'exercice a \u00e9galement eu lieu pendant une p\u00e9riode tr\u00e8s charg\u00e9e pour l'\u00e9quipage du navire. Un important renouvellement de l'\u00e9quipage a eu lieu \u00e0 Manille, avec le d\u00e9part d'environ 35 marins et l'arriv\u00e9e de rempla\u00e7ants. L'arriv\u00e9e de nouveaux membres d'\u00e9quipage a oblig\u00e9 le Ville de Qu\u00e9bec \u00e0 mener, parall\u00e8lement \u00e0 l'entra\u00eenement multinational, un programme d'exercices d'urgence afin de s'assurer que les nouveaux marins r\u00e9pondaient aux normes \u00e9lev\u00e9es du navire.<\/p>\n

Le navire a \u00e9galement r\u00e9cemment termin\u00e9 une p\u00e9riode de repos et de maintenance, un titre quelque peu trompeur.
