\u00a0<\/span>Cela vous dit quelque chose ? Si vous vivez depuis longtemps pr\u00e8s de la c\u00f4te et que vous occupez un poste op\u00e9rationnel, il y a de fortes chances que vous ayez suivi le Programme d\u2019instruction sur l\u2019environnement naval (PIEN). Il s'agit d'un cours que tous les marins doivent suivre avant de prendre la mer avec la Marine royale canadienne (MRC). Une partie de cette formation consiste \u00e0 comprendre les priorit\u00e9s en mati\u00e8re de contr\u00f4le des avaries en mer : flotter, se d\u00e9placer, combattre. Le concept est assez simple : pour gagner une bataille, le navire doit combattre. Pour combattre, le navire doit se d\u00e9placer. Pour se d\u00e9placer, le navire doit flotter. En d'autres termes, avant de pouvoir penser \u00e0 toute autre priorit\u00e9 maritime, vous devez au moins \u00eatre capable de flotter.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

R\u00e9cemment, j'ai eu une conversation trop fr\u00e9quente avec un membre de la MRC qui faisait face \u00e0 des difficult\u00e9s \u00ab sur le front int\u00e9rieur \u00bb tout en g\u00e9rant une saison de navigation tr\u00e8s charg\u00e9e. Le marin se trouvait donc dans une situation tr\u00e8s tendue, tiraill\u00e9 entre deux int\u00e9r\u00eats concurrents : prendre le temps de se concentrer sur la stabilit\u00e9 de sa vie familiale ou aller de l'avant avec les exigences de sa carri\u00e8re.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Dans ce genre de conversation, j'\u00e9coute surtout pour essayer de comprendre la situation de la personne. M\u00eame en tant qu'aum\u00f4nier, je ne donne pas n\u00e9cessairement de conseils ou d'orientations pr\u00e9cises, sauf si la personne le demande express\u00e9ment. M\u00eame dans ce cas, j'essaie de rester mesur\u00e9 dans mes conseils afin de laisser une marge de man\u0153uvre pour la prise de d\u00e9cision autonome. Dans cette conversation, cependant, l'occasion s'est pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e de r\u00e9fl\u00e9chir : peut-\u00eatre est-ce le bon moment pour vous de vous concentrer sur ce qui est le plus urgent actuellement. Peut-\u00eatre est-ce le moment id\u00e9al pour vous de vous concentrer simplement sur le simple fait de flotter.<\/p>\n

Pour de nombreux marins, le plus difficile n'est pas de mener \u00e0 bien une carri\u00e8re difficile, d'avoir trop de t\u00e2ches secondaires \u00e0 accomplir ou m\u00eame de terminer une mission de six mois sans encombre. C\u2019est de faire une pause.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Avec une introspection honn\u00eate, accepter la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 qu'il est peut-\u00eatre temps, pendant un certain temps, de se concentrer simplement sur le fait de rester \u00e0 flot peut \u00eatre une \u00e9tape difficile mais essentielle \u00e0 franchir. Car, pour reprendre une expression courante, \u00e0 quoi aurait servi de r\u00e9arranger les chaises longues sur le Titanic ? Si vous ne pouvez pas au moins rester \u00e0 flot, rien d'autre n'a d'importance.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Prenez plut\u00f4t le temps de colmater les br\u00e8ches et d'\u00e9teindre les incendies afin de pouvoir rester \u00e0 flot et, avec le temps, avancer, afin de pouvoir reprendre le combat le moment venu. Il y a beaucoup de gens qui sont bien plac\u00e9s pour vous aider, \u00e0 commencer par les aum\u00f4niers de notre \u00e9quipe ici \u00e0 la BFC Halifax.
