Le 29 avril dernier, la chapelle Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption de la 12e Escadre Shearwater \u00e9tait comble alors que les membres de la communaut\u00e9 de la D\u00e9fense se r\u00e9unissaient pour une c\u00e9r\u00e9monie comm\u00e9morative et le d\u00e9voilement d\u2019une nouvelle exposition au mus\u00e9e, marquant le cinqui\u00e8me anniversaire de l\u2019\u00e9crasement du CH-148 Cyclone qui a co\u00fbt\u00e9 la vie \u00e0 six membres des Forces arm\u00e9es canadiennes (FAC).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

L\u2019h\u00e9licopt\u00e8re, connu sous l\u2019indicatif d\u2019appel Stalker 22, s\u2019est \u00e9cras\u00e9 au large des c\u00f4tes grecques le 29 avril 2020, alors qu\u2019il participait \u00e0 l\u2019op\u00e9ration Reassurance avec le navire de Sa Majest\u00e9 le Canada (NCSM) Fredericton. <\/span>tragique<\/span><\/i>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Les participants, parmi lesquels figuraient les amis et les familles des membres d\u2019\u00e9quipage d\u00e9c\u00e9d\u00e9s ainsi que des coll\u00e8gues actifs et retrait\u00e9s des FAC, se sont rassembl\u00e9s \u00e0 la chapelle pour la c\u00e9r\u00e9monie annuelle de comm\u00e9moration des h\u00e9licopt\u00e8res maritimes.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

La matin\u00e9e a \u00e9t\u00e9 marqu\u00e9e par les discours des aum\u00f4niers et des officiers sup\u00e9rieurs. En plus de rendre hommage \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9quipage du Stalker 22, l\u2019\u00e9v\u00e9nement a \u00e9t\u00e9 l\u2019occasion de lire les noms de tous les membres des FAC ayant perdu la vie au service des h\u00e9licopt\u00e8res maritimes.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

La cloche de la chapelle sonnait \u00e0 chaque fois qu\u2019un nom \u00e9tait lu. Les derniers noms \u00e9taient ceux des six membres d\u2019\u00e9quipage du Stalker 22 : le caporal-chef Matthew Cousins, l\u2019enseigne de vaisseau de premi\u00e8re classe Abbigail Cowbrough, le capitaine Kevin Hagen, le capitaine Brenden MacDonald, le capitaine Maxime Miron-Morin et l\u2019enseigne de vaisseau de premi\u00e8re classe Matthew Pyke.<\/span><\/p>\n

Le tambour-major Pollon, chef de la fanfare des Corps de cornemuses de la 12e Escadre, a men\u00e9 un cort\u00e8ge depuis la chapelle jusqu\u2019au parc d\u2019aviation Shearwater, o\u00f9 des membres de l\u2019aum\u00f4nerie ont r\u00e9cit\u00e9 une pri\u00e8re devant le monument d\u00e9di\u00e9 au CH-148.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Le groupe s\u2019est ensuite dirig\u00e9 vers le Mus\u00e9e de l\u2019aviation de Shearwater, situ\u00e9 de l\u2019autre c\u00f4t\u00e9 de la rue.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Le major Simon Rocheleau, qui \u00e9tait le commandant du d\u00e9tachement du Stalker 22 \u00e0 bord du NCSM Fredericton, a pris la parole lors du rassemblement. Il a d\u00e9crit les membres de l\u2019\u00e9quipage disparus comme des personnes aventureuses et pleines d\u2019entrain, et a encourag\u00e9 les personnes pr\u00e9sentes \u00e0 leur rendre hommage en vivant pleinement leur vie. <\/span>tragique<\/span><\/i>, spoke at the gathering. He described the lost aircrew as adventurous and spirited, and encouraged those in attendance to honour them by living fully.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab En vivant pleinement et en riant \u00e0 nouveau, en aimant profond\u00e9ment et en poursuivant les m\u00eames aventures qu\u2019ils aimaient, nous honorons qui ils \u00e9taient vraiment, non seulement en tant qu\u2019aviateurs et marins, mais aussi en tant que personnes dynamiques, dr\u00f4les, t\u00eatues et brillantes. C\u2019est par notre courage de bien vivre que nous perp\u00e9tuons leur m\u00e9moire. \u00bb<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

La c\u00e9r\u00e9monie s\u2019est termin\u00e9e par le d\u00e9voilement, au deuxi\u00e8me \u00e9tage du mus\u00e9e, d\u2019un m\u00e9morial permanent d\u00e9di\u00e9 au Stalker 22.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

L\u2019exposition comprend des \u0153uvres d\u2019art r\u00e9cup\u00e9r\u00e9es sur le m\u00e9morial communautaire improvis\u00e9 qui avait \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9rig\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019Aviation Park dans les jours ayant suivi l\u2019accident, ainsi que des peintures de l\u2019h\u00e9licopt\u00e8re offertes par des personnes de l\u2019ensemble du Canada et des portraits des membres de l\u2019\u00e9quipage.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab Le m\u00e9morial que nous avons ici est une promesse \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 le major Rocheleau.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab C\u2019est la promesse que nous ne les oublierons pas. C\u2019est plus que des \u0153uvres d\u2019art et des objets. C\u2019est le reflet de l\u2019amour, du respect et de la fiert\u00e9 \u00e9ternelle que nous leur portons. \u00bb<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Christine Hines, conservatrice du Mus\u00e9e de l\u2019aviation de Shearwater, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que les familles des membres d\u2019\u00e9quipage disparus avaient \u00ab tr\u00e8s bien accueilli \u00bb la cr\u00e9ation de l\u2019exposition, m\u00eame si certains membres de la communaut\u00e9 continuent de trouver cela difficile sur le plan \u00e9motionnel.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
