Alors qu'ils se trouvaient \u00e0 Buenos Aires, en Argentine, d\u00e9but f\u00e9vrier, dans le cadre d'un d\u00e9ploiement en cours de l'Op\u00e9ration Projection - Am\u00e9rique du Sud, les membres du navire canadien de Sa Majest\u00e9 (NCSM) Margaret Brooke ont rencontr\u00e9 le personnel du Commandement conjoint antarctique argentin (Comando Conjunto Ant\u00e1rtico), dont le commodore (Cmdre) Maximiliano Mangiaterra, commandant de l'unit\u00e9. Le Cmdre Mangiaterra a partag\u00e9 sa vaste connaissance des op\u00e9rations antarctiques, s'appuyant sur 15 saisons d'exp\u00e9rience de navigation dans les eaux difficiles du continent blanc. Ses observations ont renforc\u00e9 l'importance de la pr\u00e9paration et de la collaboration pour un d\u00e9ploiement s\u00fbr et efficace.<\/p>\n

La visite a soulign\u00e9 le partenariat entre le Canada et l'Argentine et mis en \u00e9vidence l'esprit plus large de coop\u00e9ration internationale favoris\u00e9 par le syst\u00e8me du Trait\u00e9 sur l'Antarctique. L'\u00e9quipe de commandement du navire a \u00e9t\u00e9 rejointe par le Cmdre Jacob French, commandant de la Flotte canadienne de l'Atlantique, lors de son s\u00e9jour en Argentine.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Le NCSM Margaret Brooke est arriv\u00e9 \u00e0 la base navale de Buenos Aires apr\u00e8s d'autres escales r\u00e9centes en Uruguay, au Br\u00e9sil et \u00e0 la Barbade, alors que le navire longeait la c\u00f4te est de l'Am\u00e9rique du Sud. Ce d\u00e9ploiement marque une \u00e9tape importante pour la Marine royale canadienne (MRC). Le Margaret Brooke est le premier navire de la MRC \u00e0 faire le tour de l'Am\u00e9rique du Sud, ainsi que le premier \u00e0 visiter l'Antarctique et \u00e0 naviguer dans le cercle antarctique.<\/p>\n
