Le commandant du navire canadien de Sa Majest\u00e9 (NCSM) Harry DeWolf affirme que l'\u00e9quipage de son navire est plus que pr\u00eat pour le d\u00e9ploiement de lutte contre les stup\u00e9fiants qui l'attend.<\/p>\n

Le navire a quitt\u00e9 son port d'attache d'Halifax le 26 janvier pour passer six semaines \u00e0 soutenir l'op\u00e9ration Caribbe, op\u00e9rant dans les Cara\u00efbes et l'Atlantique Nord aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s du personnel de la Garde c\u00f4ti\u00e8re am\u00e9ricaine (USCG).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

L'op\u00e9ration Caribbe intervient apr\u00e8s une ann\u00e9e 2024 riche en \u00e9v\u00e9nements pour Harry DeWolf, notamment l'exigeante op\u00e9ration Nanook, qui comprenait une mission de recherche et de sauvetage, et un d\u00e9ploiement \u00e9largi dans la r\u00e9gion des Grands Lacs.<\/p>\n

Le navire a \u00e9galement soutenu une initiative de r\u00e9conciliation en 2024 qui a permis \u00e0 des anciens du Nunatsiavut de retourner sur les terres dont ils avaient \u00e9t\u00e9 chass\u00e9s avec leurs familles dans les ann\u00e9es 1950. La mission amphibie a \u00e9t\u00e9 extr\u00eamement gratifiante et a servi de grand test de r\u00e9flexion et de planification hors des sentiers battus pour l'\u00e9quipage, a ajout\u00e9 le capitaine de fr\u00e9gate (Capf) Jon Nicholson.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00ab Toutes ces missions r\u00e9ussies ont permis de former une \u00e9quipe forte et soud\u00e9e, pr\u00eate \u00e0 relever les d\u00e9fis de l'op\u00e9ration Caribbe \u00bb, a-t-il d\u00e9clar\u00e9.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab Cette mission a \u00e9t\u00e9 le point central de tous nos pr\u00e9paratifs en 2024. \u00bb<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Au cours de l'op\u00e9ration Caribbe, le navire participera \u00e0 la d\u00e9tection et \u00e0 la surveillance d'activit\u00e9s pr\u00e9sum\u00e9es de contrebande de drogue, contribuant ainsi \u00e0 renforcer les partenariats internationaux et d\u00e9montrant l'engagement du Canada \u00e0 relever les d\u00e9fis en mati\u00e8re de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 r\u00e9gionale, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 le Capf Nicholson.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Le Harry DeWolf jouera un r\u00f4le de soutien pendant l'op\u00e9ration. Dans les eaux internationales, les t\u00e2ches du navire consistent \u00e0 localiser, suivre, approcher et \u00e9ventuellement intercepter des navires, tandis que le personnel du d\u00e9tachement d'application de la loi de l'USCG embarqu\u00e9 peut ensuite monter \u00e0 bord des navires et mener des op\u00e9rations d'application de la loi.<\/p>\n

Tous les navires canadiens d\u00e9ploy\u00e9s dans le cadre de l'op\u00e9ration Caribbe sont \u00e9galement pr\u00e9par\u00e9s et \u00e9quip\u00e9s pour soutenir des op\u00e9rations d'aide humanitaire et de secours en cas de catastrophe, si le gouvernement du Canada le demande.<\/p>\n

Le Capf Nicholson a d\u00e9crit l'op\u00e9ration Caribbe comme une contribution essentielle des Forces arm\u00e9es canadiennes et de leurs alli\u00e9s, \u00e0 laquelle lui et son \u00e9quipe sont fiers de participer.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
