Le 9 octobre, des membres de l\u2019\u00c9quipe de la D\u00e9fense locale ont uni leurs forces pour participer \u00e0 une Journ\u00e9e d\u2019entraide organis\u00e9e par Centraide Maritimes (anciennement Centraide Halifax) afin de soutenir le programme d\u2019aide \u00e0 l\u2019accession \u00e0 la propri\u00e9t\u00e9 de l\u2019organisme Habitat pour l\u2019humanit\u00e9 (Nouvelle-\u00c9cosse). L\u2019organisme Habitat pour l\u2019humanit\u00e9 (Nouvelle-\u00c9cosse) est affili\u00e9 \u00e0 Habitat pour l\u2019humanit\u00e9 national.<\/span><\/p>\n

Les Journ\u00e9es d\u2019entraide sont des activit\u00e9s propos\u00e9es par Centraide Maritimes, o\u00f9 des b\u00e9n\u00e9voles de la communaut\u00e9 sont jumel\u00e9s \u00e0 des organismes de bienfaisance qui ont besoin d\u2019aide. Centraide Maritimes sollicite r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement l\u2019aide des membres de la D\u00e9fense de la r\u00e9gion pour ces activit\u00e9s, et affecte des b\u00e9n\u00e9voles de l\u2019\u00c9quipe de la D\u00e9fense \u00e0 des projets pratiques men\u00e9s dans la collectivit\u00e9 pour soutenir la Campagne de charit\u00e9 en milieu de travail de la D\u00e9fense nationale (CCMTDN) dans la r\u00e9gion d\u2019Halifax et de Shearwater.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

L\u2019activit\u00e9 du 9 octobre a \u00e9t\u00e9 l\u2019occasion pour les membres de l\u2019\u00c9quipe de la D\u00e9fense locale d\u2019aider un couple ayant perdu leur maison lors des feux de for\u00eat qui ont ravag\u00e9 les communaut\u00e9s, les entreprises et les r\u00e9gions bois\u00e9es de Tantallon\/Hammonds Plains \u00e0 la fin mai et au d\u00e9but juin 2023. Les b\u00e9n\u00e9voles ont particip\u00e9 \u00e0 la construction de la nouvelle maison du couple gr\u00e2ce au programme d\u2019aide \u00e0 l\u2019accession \u00e0 la propri\u00e9t\u00e9 de l\u2019organisme Habitat pour l\u2019humanit\u00e9 (Nouvelle-\u00c9cosse), qui permet aux personnes dans le besoin de faire une demande de logement aupr\u00e8s de l\u2019organisme. Pour b\u00e9n\u00e9ficier de ce programme, le couple doit effectuer 500 heures de b\u00e9n\u00e9volat, soit en participant \u00e0 la construction de sa maison ou d\u2019une autre maison de l\u2019organisme, soit en travaillant dans un centre ReStore Habitat pour l\u2019humanit\u00e9 (Nouvelle-\u00c9cosse) (qui accepte et revend des meubles, des appareils \u00e9lectrom\u00e9nagers et d\u2019autres articles neufs ou en bon \u00e9tat).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Lors de la Journ\u00e9e d\u2019entraide, le couple \u00e9tait venu \u00e0 la maison pour donner un coup de main \u00e0 la construction et rencontrer les b\u00e9n\u00e9voles de l\u2019\u00c9quipe de la D\u00e9fense. Cela a rendu la journ\u00e9e encore plus marquante pour ceux qui ont particip\u00e9 \u00e0 la construction. Comme l\u2019a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 la caporale Amanda Johnstone, \u00ab le fait d\u2019avoir pu rencontrer le couple qui avait perdu sa maison et d\u2019avoir entendu son histoire d\u00e9vastatrice et malheureuse nous a incit\u00e9s \u00e0 donner le meilleur de nous-m\u00eames \u00bb.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Les b\u00e9n\u00e9voles se sont vu confier une liste de t\u00e2ches par Habitat pour l\u2019humanit\u00e9 (Nouvelle-\u00c9cosse) et en ont accompli un grand nombre. Ils ont \u00e9t\u00e9 extr\u00eamement efficaces et ont \u00e9t\u00e9 f\u00e9licit\u00e9s pour leur travail par l\u2019un des ouvriers pr\u00e9sents sur les lieux. C\u2019est l\u00e0 une excellente nouvelle, d\u2019autant plus que dans ce cas, gr\u00e2ce au soutien de Centraide Maritimes et de la Croix-Rouge, Habitat pour l\u2019humanit\u00e9 (Nouvelle-\u00c9cosse) est en train de construire une maison plus grande que celles qu\u2019il construit habituellement.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab Le soutien extraordinaire des membres de l\u2019\u00c9quipe de la D\u00e9fense locale fait ressortir l\u2019esprit de communaut\u00e9 et de r\u00e9silience qui caract\u00e9rise la Nouvelle-\u00c9cosse, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Donna Williamson, directrice g\u00e9n\u00e9rale d\u2019Habitat pour l\u2019humanit\u00e9 Nouvelle-\u00c9cosse. Nous sommes reconnaissants de notre partenariat avec Centraide Maritimes gr\u00e2ce auquel on a pu reconstruire [cette] maison qui avait \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9truite par les feux de for\u00eat l\u2019an dernier. Cette collaboration t\u00e9moigne de ce que nous pouvons accomplir lorsque nous travaillons ensemble pour un avenir meilleur. \u00bb<\/span><\/p>\n

Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 cette Journ\u00e9e d\u2019entraide, Habitat pour l\u2019humanit\u00e9 (Nouvelle-\u00c9cosse) et Centraide Maritimes ont offert aux b\u00e9n\u00e9voles l\u2019occasion de travailler de leurs mains et de rendre un service concret \u00e0 leur communaut\u00e9. De nombreux N\u00e9o-\u00c9cossais ont \u00e9t\u00e9 touch\u00e9s par les feux de for\u00eat et, pour les b\u00e9n\u00e9voles, avoir la possibilit\u00e9 d\u2019apporter leur aide rev\u00eatait une grande importance. Les Journ\u00e9es d\u2019entraide sont toujours des activit\u00e9s populaires de la CCMTDN, car les membres de l\u2019\u00c9quipe de la D\u00e9fense accordent beaucoup d\u2019importance au travail b\u00e9n\u00e9vole au sein de la communaut\u00e9.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
