sacrifice<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><b>Par Fardous Hosseiny,<\/b><b><br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pr\u00e9sident et chef de la direction<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Institut Atlas pour les v\u00e9t\u00e9rans et leur famille<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00c0 l'approche du Jour du souvenir, je me pose une nouvelle question cette ann\u00e9e : \u00ab Qui oublions-nous dans le Souvenir? \u00bb<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\" translation-block\">Ici, au Canada, nous savons que plus de 118 000 braves soldats ne sont pas rentr\u00e9s chez eux aupr\u00e8s de leurs proches au cours de la br\u00e8ve histoire de notre pays. Les huit Livres du Souvenir du Canada, qui contiennent les noms des Canadiens qui ont sacrifi\u00e9 leur vie au service de notre pays, sont actuellement expos\u00e9s dans Centre d\u2019accueil des visiteurs de la Colline du Parlement, dans la Salle du Souvenir.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Anciens Combattants Canada et la Commonwealth War Graves Commission veille \u00e0 l\u2019entretien de plus de 300 000 st\u00e8les fun\u00e9raires et lieux de s\u00e9pulture de membres des Forces arm\u00e9es canadiennes ici et un peu partout dans le monde, m\u00eame si leur mort n\u2019est pas directement attribuable \u00e0 leur service militaire. Il est particuli\u00e8rement important de savoir qu\u2019il existe un tel programme, surtout si l\u2019on consid\u00e8re que certains ont \u00e9t\u00e9 laiss\u00e9s \u00e0 l\u2019abandon ou qu\u2019il n\u2019y a plus de parent vivant pour assurer leur entretien, et ainsi maintenir ces lieux de s\u00e9pulture au fil du temps.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Que ces personnes reposent dans les Flandres, \u00e0 B\u00e9ny-sur-Mer, \u00e0 Beechwood ou \u00e0 dans des lieux non marqu\u00e9s aux quatre coins du monde, la bravoure r\u00e8gne \u00e0 ces endroits. Leur vie et leur service doivent \u00eatre honor\u00e9s.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Au-del\u00e0 de ces chiffres, nous sommes de plus en plus conscients qu\u2019un certain nombre de personnes ne sont pas prises en compte dans ce bilan : celles qui ont perdu la vie en raison des blessures psychologiques r\u00e9sultant de leur service. Au fur et \u00e0 mesure que les conversations au sujet de la sant\u00e9 mentale deviennent plus franches et ouvertes et que l\u2019on reconna\u00eet que les blessures psychologiques sont de v\u00e9ritables r\u00e9percussions du militaire, lorsque nous perdons un retrait\u00e9 militaire (ou un militaire en service actif) au suicide, la question que de nombreuses personnes se posent actuellement est : comment honorer leur vie de fa\u00e7on officielle?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00c0 l\u2019Institut Atlas pour les v\u00e9t\u00e9rans et leur famille, les commentaires que nous recevons de notre communaut\u00e9 attestent que les blessures psychologiques ne sont pas diff\u00e9rentes des blessures physiques que les v\u00e9t\u00e9rans subissent et qu\u2019elles doivent \u00eatre trait\u00e9es en cons\u00e9quence. Les personnes qui en sont atteintes vivent les m\u00eames r\u00e9percussions et ne sont pas moins h\u00e9ro\u00efques que celles mortes en uniforme. Nous pouvons faire cette d\u00e9claration sans \u00e9quivoque et nous tenir aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s de nos v\u00e9t\u00e9rans et des membres de leur famille le 11 novembre pour honorer leurs proches qui sont morts en service ou apr\u00e8s celui-ci en raison des blessures subies. Nous sommes heureux de constater que, cette ann\u00e9e, le titre de M\u00e8re nationale de la Croix d\u2019argent (ou de la Croix du Souvenir) a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9cern\u00e9 \u00e0 une femme qui a perdu ses deux fils en raison des r\u00e9percussions du trouble de stress post-traumatique.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En \u00e9largissant nos pratiques de comm\u00e9moration pour inclure tous les types de blessures, nous avons l'occasion de devenir des leaders dans la d\u00e9fense d'une reconnaissance globale des sacrifices des v\u00e9t\u00e9rans et d'\u00e9tendre cette reconnaissance \u00e0 des actes quotidiens de sensibilisation, de soutien et d'\u00e9ducation sur les r\u00e9alit\u00e9s complexes du service militaire.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nous pourrions aller de l\u2019avant avec un regard nouveau : le service est le service, le sang des h\u00e9ros ne s\u2019efface jamais et notre souvenir de chacun
