Les membres de l'\u00e9quipe \u00ab Run for Wishes \u00bb du NCSM Halifax ont conclu la campagne de cette ann\u00e9e en remettant un ch\u00e8que \u00e0 R\u00eaves d'enfants Canada le 1er octobre.

\n<\/span><\/b>Le NCSM <\/span>Halifax\u00a0<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Du 20 au 30 septembre, mes coll\u00e8gues et moi, tous marins du Navire canadien de Sa Majest\u00e9 (NCSM) Halifax, avons particip\u00e9 \u00e0 une course de charit\u00e9 de type relais \u00e0 travers la province de la Nouvelle-\u00c9cosse au profit de l'organisme R\u00eaves d\u2019enfants Canada. Cette ann\u00e9e marquait le 20e anniversaire de la premi\u00e8re course de charit\u00e9 organis\u00e9e par le navire en 2004. L'objectif de l'association est de r\u00e9aliser des v\u0153ux qui changent la vie d'enfants atteints de maladies graves.<\/p>\n

La course a d\u00e9but\u00e9 sous l'escorte des gyrophares rouges et bleus d'un v\u00e9hicule de police \u00e0 Membertou, au Cap-Breton. L'\u00e9quipe \u00e9tait divis\u00e9e en deux groupes, les coureurs et les collecteurs de fonds. Les coureurs ont parcouru les longues distances entre les villes, tandis que les collecteurs de fonds ont pris de l'avance pour collecter des fonds. Et quelles distances ! Nous avons couru des collines du Cap-Breton aux vignobles de la vall\u00e9e de l'Annapolis. De l'agitation industrielle de l'arsenal d'Halifax aux sites pittoresques (et aux curiosit\u00e9s) de la c\u00f4te sud, nous avons couru.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Un fait poignant qui m'a frapp\u00e9 est la quantit\u00e9 de soutien que nous avons re\u00e7u et l'\u00e9lan de gentillesse de la part des communaut\u00e9s. Des casernes de pompiers aux salles de la L\u00e9gion, les gens sont venus en masse pour offrir leur hospitalit\u00e9 \u00e0 l'\u00e9quipe. Les entreprises locales ont fait don de nourriture, les Ladies Auxiliary et les groupes de la L\u00e9gion ont organis\u00e9 des d\u00eeners spaghetti et chili, et les gens nous ont encourag\u00e9s depuis les viaducs, ce qui nous a rappel\u00e9 qu'en travaillant ensemble, une communaut\u00e9 peut accomplir de grandes choses. En chemin, l'\u00e9quipe a eu l'occasion de rencontrer certains des enfants dont les v\u0153ux avaient \u00e9t\u00e9 exauc\u00e9s les ann\u00e9es pr\u00e9c\u00e9dentes. C'est une le\u00e7on d'humilit\u00e9 que de rencontrer des familles qui endurent de grandes difficult\u00e9s et font de grands sacrifices, mais c'est aussi une grande motivation pour courir un peu plus vite et collecter un peu plus d'argent. En fin de compte, nous avons recueilli 31 000 $ pour R\u00eaves d\u2019enfants, ce qui a permis d'exaucer les v\u0153ux de trois enfants.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
