Le Groupe consultatif des minorit\u00e9s visibles de la D\u00e9fense (GCMVD) de la r\u00e9gion de Halifax a r\u00e9cemment accueilli un nouveau copr\u00e9sident militaire, le ma\u00eetre de 1re classe (M 1) Korey Tynes, qui succ\u00e8de au copr\u00e9sident sortant, l'\u00e9l\u00e8ve-officier (\u00c9lof) Saif Morsy.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Le changement a \u00e9t\u00e9 officialis\u00e9 le 29 ao\u00fbt par la commandante de la base des Forces canadiennes (BFC) Halifax, la Capitaine de vaisseau (Capv) Annick Fortin. L'occasion a \u00e9galement servi de r\u00e9union initiale entre les dirigeants du GCMVD, y compris la copr\u00e9sidente civile Rene Gannon, et la Capv Fortin, qui, en tant que commandante de la base, agit maintenant \u00e0 titre de championne locale du GCMVD. Elle a remerci\u00e9 l'\u00c9lof Morsy pour le travail qu'il a accompli au cours des trois derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es et a souhait\u00e9 la bienvenue au M 1 Tynes, qui est d\u00e9j\u00e0 un membre actif du GCVMD, au poste de copr\u00e9sident.<\/span><\/p>\n

Le groupe a expliqu\u00e9 le mandat du GCMVD, qui consiste \u00e0 conseiller les dirigeants sur les questions ayant un impact sur les minorit\u00e9s visibles, et a mis en lumi\u00e8re certaines \u00ab victoires \u00bb r\u00e9centes en mati\u00e8re d'\u00e9quit\u00e9 en mati\u00e8re d'emploi au niveau local. Il s'agit notamment de la cr\u00e9ation d'un poste \u00e0 temps plein de coordinateur de l'\u00e9quit\u00e9 en mati\u00e8re d'emploi, de la diversit\u00e9 et de l'inclusion pour la formation d'Halifax, ainsi que de la nouvelle clinique PANDC offerte par le Centre des services de sant\u00e9 des Forces canadiennes (Atlantique). La clinique est dirig\u00e9e par l'infirmi\u00e8re praticienne Verena Rizg et vise \u00e0 r\u00e9pondre aux besoins particuliers des membres qui sont des personnes noires, autochtones et de couleur.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab C'est la premi\u00e8re clinique de ce type au Canada, et nous aimerions qu'il y en ait dans toutes les bases du pays. C'est formidable d'en avoir les bases ici, \u00e0 Halifax \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 le M 1 Tynes.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ils ont \u00e9galement discut\u00e9 des probl\u00e8mes de discrimination raciale auxquels sont encore confront\u00e9s de nombreux membres des Forces arm\u00e9es canadiennes et civils du MDN, du manque de confiance dans les processus en place pour r\u00e9soudre les probl\u00e8mes de discrimination raciale et de la n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 d'une meilleure compr\u00e9hension, au sein de l'\u00c9quipe de la D\u00e9fense, de concepts tels que les pr\u00e9jug\u00e9s inconscients et les microagressions.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
