Le Groupe consultatif de la d\u00e9fense pour les personnes handicap\u00e9es de la r\u00e9gion d'Halifax (GCDPH) et le Mus\u00e9e naval d'Halifax se sont associ\u00e9s dans le cadre d'un programme unique visant \u00e0 pr\u00e9senter l'histoire navale aux personnes vivant avec un handicap.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Le 29 ao\u00fbt, le personnel du GCDPH et celui du mus\u00e9e se sont rendus \u00e0 l'\u00e9tablissement de Timbres de P\u00e2ques de la Nouvelle-\u00c9cosse, \u00e0 Dartmouth, pour y faire une pr\u00e9sentation sur la bataille de l'Atlantique. Timbres de P\u00e2ques est une organisation qui offre des services d'autonomisation et de soutien \u00e0 la qualit\u00e9 de vie aux personnes handicap\u00e9es. Le matelot de 1re classe (Mat 1) Stephen Happe, copr\u00e9sident militaire du GCDPH, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que le mus\u00e9e a mis au point des programmes \u00ab portables \u00bb qui peuvent \u00eatre pr\u00e9sent\u00e9s \u00e0 l'ext\u00e9rieur de la base, \u00e9tant donn\u00e9 que le mus\u00e9e lui-m\u00eame n'est pas enti\u00e8rement accessible et que le statut patrimonial d'\u00c9difice de l'Amiraut\u00e9 complique toute modification de l'infrastructure de la propri\u00e9t\u00e9.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Aux Timbres de P\u00e2ques, l'\u00e9quipe de la base a pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 aux participants l'histoire de la Marine royale canadienne pendant la bataille de l'Atlantique, \u00e0 l'aide d'\u00e9l\u00e9ments tactiles tels que des m\u00e9dailles, des cloches et des maquettes de navires qui ont \u00e9t\u00e9 distribu\u00e9es au fur et \u00e0 mesure que leur signification historique \u00e9tait expliqu\u00e9e.<\/p>\n

\u00ab Les Timbres de P\u00e2ques ont \u00e9t\u00e9 notre premi\u00e8re exp\u00e9rience de ces programmes portables \u00bb , a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 le Mat 1 Happe, ajoutant que le groupe esp\u00e8re \u00e9largir son r\u00e9seau de partenaires pour y inclure davantage d'organisations au service des personnes handicap\u00e9es. Outre les Timbres de P\u00e2ques, le GCDPH s'est \u00e9galement associ\u00e9 \u00e0 l'INCA pour des pr\u00e9sentations faites \u00e0 des invit\u00e9s aveugles et malvoyants au Mus\u00e9e naval de Halifax l'\u00e9t\u00e9 dernier.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Les organisateurs ont d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que la visite avait \u00e9t\u00e9 un succ\u00e8s et que les participants \u00e9taient impatients de les revoir \u00e0 l'avenir pour d'autres pr\u00e9sentations ax\u00e9es sur la marine.
