Pendant le Rendez-vous naval de Qu\u00e9bec\u202f2024, au Vieux-Port de Qu\u00e9bec, une femme marin am\u00e9ricaine a renou\u00e9 avec ses origines qu\u00e9b\u00e9coises. La pr\u00e9pos\u00e9e \u00e0 la lutte contre les avaries (PLA), Allison Lavoie-Tousignant, du USS Carney, a retrouv\u00e9 avec \u00e9motion son arri\u00e8re-grand-m\u00e8re, Dorilda Lavoie-Lizotte, et sa tante, Hope Lavoie-Lizotte, le 7\u202fjuillet 2024.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00c0 19\u202fans, la PLA Lavoie-Tousignant s\u2019est enr\u00f4l\u00e9e dans la Marine am\u00e9ricaine, perp\u00e9tuant ainsi le prestigieux h\u00e9ritage militaire de sa famille, qui se rattache \u00e0 deux guerres mondiales, \u00e0 deux si\u00e8cles et \u00e0 deux pays. Suivant les traces de son arri\u00e8re-arri\u00e8re-grand-p\u00e8re, Edmond Lizotte, qui a servi le Canada pendant les deux guerres mondiales, elle a d\u00e9j\u00e0 particip\u00e9 \u00e0 un d\u00e9ploiement au Moyen-Orient au cours de sa premi\u00e8re ann\u00e9e \u00e0 bord d\u2019un destroyer am\u00e9ricain de la classe Arleigh Burke.<\/p>\n

L\u2019occasion de visiter le Canada en tant que marin \u00e9tait exceptionnelle. Des milliers de personnes de la r\u00e9gion ont particip\u00e9 au Rendez-vous naval de Qu\u00e9bec 2024, o\u00f9 elles ont pu visiter des navires et s\u2019impr\u00e9gner des traditions navales. Des marins de cinq navires, \u00e0 savoir le USS Carney, le navire de patrouille britannique en Antarctique, le HMS Protector, le NCSM Fredericton, le nouveau navire de patrouille extrac\u00f4tier et de l\u2019Arctique, le NCSM William Hall, et le navire fran\u00e7ais de soutien et d\u2019assistance, le BSAM Rh\u00f4ne, ont offert un aper\u00e7u de la vie en mer.<\/p>\n

Les Lizotte, dont la famille \u00e9largie vit au Qu\u00e9bec, ont \u00e9t\u00e9 ravis de passer du temps avec la PLA Lavoie-Tousignant. Bien qu\u2019elle soit n\u00e9e \u00e0 New York et qu\u2019elle ait grandi en Floride, elle a aim\u00e9 ce moment de retrouvailles. Sa rencontre avec les Lizotte lui a \u00e9galement permis de faire la connaissance d\u2019un ambassadeur de la MRC, le capitaine de vaisseau honoraire (capv H) Mo\u00efse Tousignant, qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 enchant\u00e9 de voir la jeune Am\u00e9ricaine qui portait le m\u00eame nom de famille que lui.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab\u202fMon r\u00f4le de capitaine de vaisseau honoraire m\u2019a permis de faire de nombreuses rencontres int\u00e9ressantes au cours de toutes ces ann\u00e9es. Mon r\u00e9cent passage au Rendez-vous naval, dans la belle ville de Qu\u00e9bec, n\u2019a pas fait exception. La rencontre inattendue avec la jeune Allisson Lavoie-Tousignant, une femme marin \u00e0 bord du USS Carney, et la visite du navire par des membres de sa famille canadienne t\u00e9moignent de la fi\u00e8re tradition militaire des deux pays.\u202f\u00bb<\/p>\n

La PLA Lavoie-Tousignant fait partie d\u2019une \u00e9quipe de premiers r\u00e9pondants compos\u00e9e de 10\u202fmarins. Ils luttent contre les incendies et les inondations \u00e0 bord du navire et prodiguent les premiers soins aux bless\u00e9s dans les situations d\u2019urgence. Pour la PLA Lavoie-Tousignant, ce qu\u2019elle pr\u00e9f\u00e8re dans son travail, \u00ab\u202fc\u2019est la mont\u00e9e d\u2019adr\u00e9naline qu\u2019elle ressent lorsqu\u2019elle se rend sur les lieux du sinistre et qu\u2019elle lutte contre l\u2019incendie\u202f\u00bb. Elle a ajout\u00e9 en riant\u202f: \u00ab\u202fC\u2019est assez fascinant\u202f\u00bb.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

La lutte contre les incendies et les avaries exigent un effort physique auquel son exp\u00e9rience en chearleading de comp\u00e9tition et en construction l\u2019a pr\u00e9par\u00e9e, mais c\u2019est le fait d\u2019\u00eatre loin de chez soi qui est le plus difficile \u00e0 surmonter. Elle a toutefois ajout\u00e9 qu\u2019on \u00ab\u202ffinissait par s\u2019y faire\u202f\u00bb et que les moments pass\u00e9s en famille prenaient alors tout leur sens.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00c0 la fin du Rendez-vous naval Qu\u00e9bec\u202f2024, la PLA Lavoie-Tousignant et le USS Carney ont mis le cap sur leur port d\u2019attache en Floride. M\u00eame si son passage au Qu\u00e9bec a \u00e9t\u00e9 bref, il lui a rappel\u00e9 l\u2019importance des liens familiaux et patrimoniaux, et a renforc\u00e9 le rapport entre son service aux \u00c9tats-Unis et ses origines canadiennes.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
