Des dignitaires militaires et civils se sont r\u00e9unis lors d'une c\u00e9r\u00e9monie ensoleill\u00e9e \u00e0 l'ext\u00e9rieur du Mus\u00e9e naval d'Halifax pour accueillir la nouvelle commandante de la Base des Forces canadiennes (BFC) Halifax et rendre hommage \u00e0 son pr\u00e9d\u00e9cesseur.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

La capitaine de vaisseau (Capv) Annick Fortin a pris le commandement de la BFC Halifax en remplacement du commandant sortant de la base, le Capv Andy Mackenzie, lors d'une c\u00e9r\u00e9monie de passation de commandement qui s'est d\u00e9roul\u00e9e le 24 juillet.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Dans son discours d'ouverture, la Capv Fortin a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que la BFC Halifax est unique en raison de son emplacement central dans la ville et des liens solides qu'elle entretient avec la communaut\u00e9.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab Je m'engage \u00e0 maintenir ces relations solides \", a-t-elle soulign\u00e9. \u00bb<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Le maire de Halifax, Mike Savage, la d\u00e9put\u00e9e provinciale Barb Adams et le d\u00e9put\u00e9 f\u00e9d\u00e9ral Andy Fillmore, qui repr\u00e9sentaient chacun leur palier de gouvernement respectif \u00e0 la c\u00e9r\u00e9monie, \u00e9taient pr\u00e9sents. Les premiers intervenants de Halifax ont \u00e9galement marqu\u00e9 l'occasion, avec des repr\u00e9sentants de la police r\u00e9gionale de Halifax et des services r\u00e9gionaux d'incendie et d'urgence de Halifax.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Avant sa nomination au poste de commandante de la base, la Capv Fortin occupait le poste de commandant du NCSM Winnipeg depuis 2022 et avait termin\u00e9 le programme de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 nationale du Coll\u00e8ge des Forces canadiennes en 2024. Elle reconna\u00eet que le travail effectu\u00e9 sur la base \u00ab ne reste pas \u00e0 terre \u00bb et que la BFC Halifax a un r\u00f4le essentiel \u00e0 jouer pour que la flotte soit pr\u00eate \u00e0 respecter les calendriers de navigation exigeants.<\/p>\n

\u00ab Il s'agit d'un r\u00f4le essentiel pour soutenir l'\u00e9tat de pr\u00e9paration op\u00e9rationnelle au pays et \u00e0 l'\u00e9tranger. \u00bb<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Le Capv Mackenzie a lui-m\u00eame remerci\u00e9 une longue liste de personnes et de groupes alors qu'il se pr\u00e9parait \u00e0 quitter ses fonctions, notamment les unit\u00e9s militaires et le personnel de l'ensemble de la base, la Chambre de commerce d'Halifax et d'autres groupes communautaires, les repr\u00e9sentants du gouvernement pr\u00e9sents, ainsi que ses amis et sa famille.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ancien sous-marinier et commandant du Navire canadien de Sa Majest\u00e9 (NCSM) Windsor, le Capv Mackenzie a laiss\u00e9 transpara\u00eetre ses racines tout au long de sa passation de commandement. Une grande maquette d'un sous-marin de classe Victoria \u00e9tait expos\u00e9e pour l'\u00e9v\u00e9nement, et le Capv Mackenzie a plaisant\u00e9 en disant qu'il aurait pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9 porter sa salopette de sous-marin pour la journ\u00e9e.<\/p>\n

Le commandant sortant de la base a ajout\u00e9 que l'une des priorit\u00e9s de son mandat avait \u00e9t\u00e9 de faire en sorte que la BFC Halifax \u00ab ressemble davantage \u00e0 un sous-marin \u00bb, soulignant qu'un \u00e9quipage de sous-marin doit compter sur un excellent travail d'\u00e9quipe, une unit\u00e9 d'action et une confiance totale en ses co\u00e9quipiers, quelle que soit la situation.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Elle a qualifi\u00e9 la Capv Fortin de \" s\u0153ur \" lorsqu'elle a accueilli le nouveau commandant de la base, faisant r\u00e9f\u00e9rence au temps o\u00f9 les deux officiers ont servi ensemble \u00e0 bord du NCSM Vancouver, plus t\u00f4t dans leur carri\u00e8re.<\/p>\n
