Le personnel militaire a r\u00e9cemment enfil\u00e9 un bandeau sur les yeux et s'est battu pour la supr\u00e9matie tout en mettant en valeur un sport accessible aux personnes aveugles ou malvoyantes.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Le 30 mai, six \u00e9quipes se sont affront\u00e9es dans la salle d'exercice Stadacona S-120 pour avoir la chance de devenir les premiers champions du tournoi de goalball de la base des Forces canadiennes (BFC) Halifax. La comp\u00e9tition \u00e9tait organis\u00e9e par le Groupe consultatif de la d\u00e9fense pour les personnes handicap\u00e9es (GCDPH) et l\u2019\u00e9quipe de l\u2019\u00e9quit\u00e9 en mati\u00e8re d\u2019emploi, de la diversit\u00e9 et de l\u2019inclusion des FMAR(A) dans le cadre de la Semaine nationale de l'accessibilit\u00e9 2024.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Invent\u00e9 en 1946 pour aider \u00e0 la r\u00e9habilitation des v\u00e9t\u00e9rans ayant perdu la vue pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, le Goalball est aujourd'hui pratiqu\u00e9 en comp\u00e9tition par des athl\u00e8tes d\u00e9ficients visuels. Chaque joueur porte un bandeau pendant le jeu afin de garantir l'\u00e9quit\u00e9 du tournoi de base. L'objectif principal du jeu est que les joueurs, par \u00e9quipe de trois, lancent une balle munie de clochettes dans le but de leur adversaire.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

L'Institut national canadien pour les aveugles, le Comit\u00e9 paralympique canadien, les Timbres de P\u00e2ques et le Centre de ressources des familles militaires d'Halifax et R\u00e9gions \u00e9taient pr\u00e9sents au tournoi pour montrer leur soutien et fournir des informations sur les services et les programmes qu'ils offrent.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Le matelot de premi\u00e8re classe (Mat 1) Steve Happe est membre du GCDPH ; il a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que la participation et l'enthousiasme pour la comp\u00e9tition ont d\u00e9pass\u00e9 ses attentes. Il a dit \u00ab l'engagement de la communaut\u00e9 et l'excitation dans les yeux des gens. \u00bb<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Les champions du tournoi ont \u00e9t\u00e9 l'\u00e9quipe physioth\u00e9rapie et de r\u00e9adaptation du Centre des Services de sant\u00e9 des Forces canadiennes (Atlantique). Le GCDPH a l'intention de s'appuyer sur le succ\u00e8s du premier tournoi de Goalball pour cr\u00e9er une comp\u00e9tition annuelle, avec la possibilit\u00e9 de l'\u00e9tendre au-del\u00e0 des \u00e9quipes de la base, car certains des groupes communautaires pr\u00e9sents \u00e0 l'\u00e9v\u00e9nement ont manifest\u00e9 leur int\u00e9r\u00eat.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Le soutien que la communaut\u00e9 de la base a manifest\u00e9 pour le tournoi et le sport accessible en g\u00e9n\u00e9ral \u00e9tait \u00e9mouvant, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 le Mat 1 Happe.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
