La Flotte canadienne de l'Atlantique a accueilli son nouveau premier ma\u00eetre de la Flotte lors d'une c\u00e9r\u00e9monie de changement de nomination \u00e0 l'arsenal canadien de Sa Majest\u00e9 le 13 juin.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab Je me sens extr\u00eamement privil\u00e9gi\u00e9 aujourd'hui \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 le premier ma\u00eetre de 1re classe Patrick Mackey, alors qu'il assumait le r\u00f4le de premier ma\u00eetre de la Flotte de l'Atlantique. La c\u00e9r\u00e9monie s'est d\u00e9roul\u00e9e sur le pont d'envol du Navire canadien de Sa Majest\u00e9 (NCSM) Fredericton, \u00e0 bord duquel il servait auparavant comme capitaine d'armes. Le PM 1 Mackey remplace le PM 1 Cavel Shebib, qui a occup\u00e9 ce poste au cours des deux derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es.<\/p>\n

\u00c9voquant le temps pass\u00e9 \u00e0 bord du Fredericton, le PM 1 Mackey a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que le poste de ma\u00eetre d'\u00e9quipage \u00ab repr\u00e9sente une opportunit\u00e9 d'encadrer et de guider les autres, mais plus important encore, d'aider les marins qui ont des difficult\u00e9s tant sur le plan professionnel que personnel. \u00bb<\/p>\n

Il a ajout\u00e9 qu'il est d\u00e9sormais \u00ab dans une position o\u00f9 je peux fournir ce mentorat, ces conseils et ce soutien \u00e0 l'ensemble de la flotte et au-del\u00e0. C'est quelque chose que je ch\u00e9rirai pendant toute la dur\u00e9e de mon mandat de premier ma\u00eetre. \u00bb<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Il a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que le r\u00f4le de premier ma\u00eetre de la flotte de l'Atlantique sera difficile et a reconnu que la Marine royale canadienne (MRC) est confront\u00e9e \u00e0 des d\u00e9fis li\u00e9s au manque de personnel et au vieillissement de l'\u00e9quipement, mais il a ajout\u00e9 que la flotte de l'Atlantique \u00ab continue de bien repr\u00e9senter le Canada \u00bb, avec sept navires actuellement en mer.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Le PM 1 Mackey a \u00e9galement soulign\u00e9 le respect et l'admiration que son pr\u00e9d\u00e9cesseur suscite au sein de la flotte, ainsi que la barre \u00e9lev\u00e9e fix\u00e9e par le PM 1 Shebib pour le r\u00f4le de premier ma\u00eetre de la flotte de l'Atlantique.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab Je ne compte plus le nombre de fois o\u00f9 l'on m'a dit que j'avais de grandes responsabilit\u00e9s \u00e0 assumer. \u00bb<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Dans son discours de d\u00e9part, le PM 1 Shebib a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 qu'il \u00e9tait \u00ab reconnaissant \u00bb d'avoir occup\u00e9 ce poste et que les deux ann\u00e9es qu'il avait pass\u00e9es dans cette fonction s'\u00e9taient \u00e9coul\u00e9es rapidement. Il a remerci\u00e9 les marins, les officiers, les amis et la famille qui l'ont soutenu pendant cette p\u00e9riode - il a \u00e9galement attribu\u00e9 \u00e0 ce r\u00e9seau de soutien son succ\u00e8s dans le poste.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Le PM 1 Shebib a \u00e9t\u00e9 ovationn\u00e9 par la foule compos\u00e9e de membres de l'\u00e9quipe de commandement des Forces maritimes de l'Atlantique, de coll\u00e8gues, d'amis et de membres de la famille des chefs de la flotte de l'Atlantique entrant et sortant.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Le capitaine de vaisseau (Capv) Michael Stefanson, commandant de la Flotte canadienne de l'Atlantique, a pr\u00e9sid\u00e9 la c\u00e9r\u00e9monie. Il a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que le poste de premier ma\u00eetre de la Flotte de l'Atlantique est \u00ab un r\u00f4le vital et un d\u00e9fi \u00bb et a d\u00e9crit la relation entre le commandant de la Flotte et le premier ma\u00eetre de la Flotte de l'Atlantique comme un lien crucial dans la cha\u00eene de commandement qui influe sur la sant\u00e9 de la Flotte.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
