La passation de commandement du 10 mai a mis en lumi\u00e8re certains changements r\u00e9cents dans le leadership au sein de la Flotte canadienne de l'Atlantique. Le nouveau commandant du NCSM Ville de Qu\u00e9bec supervisera le reste de la p\u00e9riode de car\u00e9nage et le retour \u00e9ventuel en mer. Le navire est revenu de son entretien prolong\u00e9 au chantier naval Irving Shipbuilding l'\u00e9t\u00e9 dernier.

L'\u00e9quipage du Navire canadien de Sa Majest\u00e9 (NCSM) Ville de Qu\u00e9bec a accueilli son nouveau commandant lors d'une c\u00e9r\u00e9monie qui avait pour toile de fond les travaux de radoub en cours \u00e0 l'Arsenal canadien de Sa Majest\u00e9, le 10 mai dernier.<\/p>\n

Le Capitaine de fr\u00e9gate Peter MacNeil a pris le commandement du navire en remplacement du Capitaine de fr\u00e9gate Russel Hodgson, qui \u00e9tait le commandant du Ville de Qu\u00e9bec depuis deux ans.<\/p>\n

Le Capf MacNeil supervisera les travaux de remise en \u00e9tat restants et le retour du navire en service actif.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Dans son discours d'adieu, le Capf Hodgson a \u00e9voqu\u00e9 les d\u00e9fis que repr\u00e9sentait la prise de commandement de Ville de Qu\u00e9bec alors que les restrictions li\u00e9es \u00e0 la pand\u00e9mie COVID-19 \u00e9taient en vigueur, ainsi que le temps pass\u00e9 \u00e0 travailler depuis le bureau \u00e0 terre de la 12e escadre Shearwater.<\/p>\n

Il a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 avoir eu des doutes lors de son premier jour, mais a ajout\u00e9 que l'\u00e9quipage du navire a rapidement \u00e9clairci ses perspectives gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 son attitude positive et \u00e0 son excellente \u00e9thique de travail. Le Capf Hodgson a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 qu'il y avait une atmosph\u00e8re accueillante d\u00e8s le d\u00e9but.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab On se sentait comme \u00e0 la maison. \u00bb<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Le Capf Hodgson s'est dit fier de l'\u00e9quipage et des progr\u00e8s qu'il a accomplis pour pr\u00e9parer le navire \u00e0 reprendre du service.<\/p>\n

\u00ab Ce sera l'un des navires les plus beaux et les plus performants jamais mis en mer. \u00bb<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Le capitaine de vaisseau Mike Stefanson, r\u00e9cemment nomm\u00e9 commandant de la Flotte canadienne de l'Atlantique, a pr\u00e9sid\u00e9 la c\u00e9r\u00e9monie. Il a exprim\u00e9 sa gratitude pour le travail \u00ab impressionnant \u00bb du Capf Hodgson et de l'\u00e9quipage du navire.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

S'exprimant sur l'avenir du Ville de Qu\u00e9bec, il a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que les travaux de r\u00e9novation am\u00e9lioreront ses capacit\u00e9s et placeront le navire, le Capf MacNeil et l'\u00e9quipage \u00e0 l'avant-garde de la flotte canadienne de l'Atlantique.<\/p>\n

\u00ab Ce navire sera \u00e9quip\u00e9 d'une suite de guerre sous-marine exceptionnelle. Ce sera la pointe de la lance de cette flotte et vous serez \u00e0 l'avant-garde. Nous sommes tr\u00e8s enthousiastes \u00e0 l'id\u00e9e de voir ce que la Ville de Qu\u00e9bec r\u00e9alisera dans les ann\u00e9es \u00e0 venir. \u00bb<\/p>\n

Le nouveau commandant du navire, le Capf Macneil, a remerci\u00e9 sa famille pour son soutien constant et le Capf Hodgson pour avoir constitu\u00e9 \u00ab une \u00e9quipe \u00e9pique \u00bb \u00e0 bord du Ville de Qu\u00e9bec<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Le Capf Macneil s'est dit tr\u00e8s enthousiaste et a compar\u00e9 sa nomination \u00e0 un choix de premier tour dans le sport professionnel.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

S'adressant aux membres de l'\u00e9quipage du navire, le Capf MacNeil a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 qu'il esp\u00e9rait poursuivre la solide culture de travail d'\u00e9quipe et de pers\u00e9v\u00e9rance cultiv\u00e9e par le Capf Hodgson.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
