La chef d'orchestre invit\u00e9e Melissa Doiron, chef d'orchestre adjoint de l'orchestre symphonique de Chebucto et directrice musicale de la Charles P. Allen High School, s'est jointe \u00e0 l'orchestre et \u00e0 l'ensemble Glass Winds pour une partie du concert.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Le 28 avril, la Musique Stadacona de la Marine royale du Canada a donn\u00e9 un concert public gratuit au th\u00e9\u00e2tre Spatz, au centre-ville d'Halifax, intitul\u00e9 \u00ab Femmes d\u2019Excellence : Un hommage \u00e0 la Bataille de l\u2019Atlantique. \u00bb Le programme du concert \u00e9tait ax\u00e9 sur des \u0153uvres de compositrices, y compris plusieurs pi\u00e8ces \u00e9crites par des membres des Forces arm\u00e9es canadiennes. Une partie du concert a \u00e9t\u00e9 dirig\u00e9e par l'invit\u00e9e Melissa Doiron, chef d'orchestre adjointe de l'Orchestre symphonique de Chebucto, et l'orchestre a \u00e9t\u00e9 rejoint tout au long du concert par les invit\u00e9s musicaux Adria Jackson, Glass Winds : Ensemble de femmes \u00e0 vent de la Nouvelle-\u00c9cosse et le Ch\u0153ur des \u00e9pouses des militaires canadiens de Halifax (CMWCH).<\/p>\n

Comme l'a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 sur sc\u00e8ne le Matc Tony Taylor de la Musique Stadacona, \u00ab nous mettons en lumi\u00e8re l'excellence des femmes dans les domaines de la musique, des arts visuels et de la d\u00e9fense, et nous c\u00e9l\u00e9brons leurs contributions \u00e0 l'\u00c9quipe de d\u00e9fense et \u00e0 l'ensemble de la communaut\u00e9 \u00bb, tout en marquant l'anniversaire de la bataille de l'Atlantique, qui est traditionnellement au c\u0153ur du concert de printemps.<\/span><\/p>\n

La caporal (Cpl) Ally Fiola, premi\u00e8re r\u00e9serviste de la Musique du 36e Groupe-brigade du Canada, qui renforce actuellement la Musique Stadacona, s'est dite ravie de pr\u00e9senter son travail dans le cadre de ce concert ax\u00e9 sur les femmes. La fanfare a interpr\u00e9t\u00e9 en premi\u00e8re mondiale sa composition \u00ab Fantasy of a Seaside Abode \u00bb, une pi\u00e8ce qui met l'accent sur les communaut\u00e9s c\u00f4ti\u00e8res et \u00ab c\u00e9l\u00e8bre des voix qui n'ont peut-\u00eatre pas eu l'occasion d'\u00eatre entendues auparavant. \u00bb\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Adria Jackson, chanteuse classique, harpiste et \u00e9pouse de militaire, a \u00e9t\u00e9 accueillie pour interpr\u00e9ter deux de ses compositions, \u00ab Halifax Shore \u00bb et \u00ab Tell the Bees \u00bb, aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s du CMWCH. La directrice de la chorale, Patricia Tupper, a exprim\u00e9 l'espoir que le public quitterait le concert enthousiasm\u00e9 par le programme qui met en lumi\u00e8re les r\u00e9alisations des femmes en tant qu'artistes, compositrices, productrices et solistes, et qu'il s'int\u00e9resserait plus que jamais aux femmes qui font de la musique. Cet espoir correspond bien \u00e0 la mission de la chorale, qui est de d\u00e9velopper et de favoriser un r\u00e9seau de soutien entre les femmes gr\u00e2ce au pouvoir de la musique et de la communaut\u00e9.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

En tant que trompettiste des FAC et membre de la Musique Stadacona, la matelot-chef Emily Bellman a jou\u00e9 d'innombrables fanfares et sonneries de clairon. Ainsi, lorsqu'il s'est agi de composer sa propre pi\u00e8ce, \u00ab Platinum Fanfare \u00bb, elle s'est sentie \u00e0 l'aise de le faire dans un style qui lui \u00e9tait familier. Ce morceau a donn\u00e9 le coup d'envoi du concert de l'apr\u00e8s-midi, et la Matc Bellman a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 qu'elle esp\u00e9rait inspirer \u00e0 la fois la fiert\u00e9 et la r\u00e9flexion, et toucher une corde sensible chez les spectateurs. Avec l'aide d'\u00e9v\u00e9nements comme celui-ci, elle esp\u00e8re que la programmation, les arrangements et les compositions de femmes deviendront de plus en plus courants dans la musique classique.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab Je pense que la meilleure fa\u00e7on de renforcer et de soutenir les femmes est de cr\u00e9er collectivement un environnement qui encourage la confiance et la vuln\u00e9rabilit\u00e9. Si nous \u00e9coutons vraiment et laissons de l'espace aux femmes (et \u00e0 tous ceux dont la voix n'est pas toujours entendue) pour qu'elles ressentent cette connexion - avec la musique et entre elles - nous aurons un impact bien plus important \u00bb, explique la Matc Bellman.<\/p>\n

Les participants ont \u00e9galement eu droit \u00e0 une exp\u00e9rience de peinture en direct avec l'artiste visuelle Holly Carr, qui a cr\u00e9\u00e9 une \u0153uvre originale sur sc\u00e8ne pendant le spectacle. La peinture sera offerte \u00e0 la suite Deanne Reeve pour la sant\u00e9 pelvienne de l'h\u00f4pital g\u00e9n\u00e9ral de Dartmouth, une nouvelle clinique d\u00e9di\u00e9e aux services d'urologie et de gyn\u00e9cologie qui contribuera \u00e0 r\u00e9duire les temps d'attente pour les proc\u00e9dures et aura un impact positif sur les soins aux patients dans toute la MRH et au-del\u00e0.<\/span><\/p>\n

La contre-amiral Jos\u00e9e Kurtz, commandante des Forces maritimes de l'Atlantique et de la Force op\u00e9rationnelle interarm\u00e9es de l'Atlantique, a fait remarquer que les deux th\u00e8mes du concert ne s'excluaient pas mutuellement. Tout en rendant hommage aux milliers de Canadiens qui ont servi en mer de 1939 \u00e0 1945, elle a \u00e9galement soulign\u00e9 le r\u00f4le du Service f\u00e9minin de la marine royale du Canada (WRCNS), qui a contribu\u00e9 au succ\u00e8s de la bataille de l'Atlantique et de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, ainsi que celui de pionni\u00e8res comme le capitaine de vaisseau Adelaide Sinclair, premi\u00e8re femme directrice du WRCNS.<\/span><\/p>\n
