Le 28 avril, \u00e0 l'ext\u00e9rieur de Province House, un rassemblement solennel a eu lieu pour rendre hommage aux travailleurs qui ont perdu la vie ou ont \u00e9t\u00e9 bless\u00e9s au travail. Cette date marque le Jour de deuil national pour les travailleurs au Canada ; la c\u00e9r\u00e9monie provinciale en Nouvelle-\u00c9cosse est dirig\u00e9e chaque ann\u00e9e par le F\u00e9d\u00e9ration du travail de Nouvelle-\u00c9cosse, avec le soutien du minist\u00e8re du Travail, des Comp\u00e9tences et de l'Immigration, du Bureau d'indemnisation des accidents du travail de Nouvelle-\u00c9cosse et de l'organisation Fil de Vie. Comme toujours, des repr\u00e9sentants de la Formation Halifax \u00e9taient pr\u00e9sents pour rendre hommage aux victimes et reconna\u00eetre l'importance de cette journ\u00e9e. Le Capitaine de vaisseau Jonathan Lafontaine, commandant de l'Installation de maintenance de la flotte (IMF) Cape Scott, a d\u00e9pos\u00e9 une couronne devant Province House apr\u00e8s la c\u00e9r\u00e9monie. Il \u00e9tait accompagn\u00e9 du premier ma\u00eetre de 1re classe Ginette Seguin.<\/p>\n

Parmi les orateurs figurait l'invit\u00e9e d'honneur Nicole Beck-Maceachern, qui a perdu son p\u00e8re, Ronald William Beck, en 2004, \u00e0 la suite d'un incident impliquant des wagons dont les freins \u00e9taient d\u00e9fectueux. Elle a parl\u00e9 de l'impact d\u00e9vastateur et durable de cette perte qui, selon elle, aurait pu \u00eatre \u00e9vit\u00e9e. \u00ab Vingt ans plus tard, je me permets de raconter mon histoire \u00e0 voix haute \u00bb, a-t-elle d\u00e9clar\u00e9, \u00e0 la fois pour s'aider \u00e0 gu\u00e9rir et pour sensibiliser \u00e0 l'importance de la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 sur le lieu de travail.<\/p>\n
