Vivre au \u00ab Max \u00bb<\/h3>\n

Le navire canadien de Sa Majest\u00e9 (NCSM) Max Bernays, le premier navire de patrouille extrac\u00f4tier et arctique (NPEA) \u00e0 s'installer sur la c\u00f4te Ouest, entreprend un voyage historique. L'arriv\u00e9e du navire \u00e0 Esquimalt \u00e0 la mi-avril marquera la premi\u00e8re mise en service d'un navire de la Marine royale canadienne (MRC) sur la c\u00f4te ouest depuis plusieurs d\u00e9cennies.<\/p>\n

Le Max rentre chez lui avec un \u00e9quipage de plus de 85 marins, ce qui est sup\u00e9rieur \u00e0 sa capacit\u00e9 normale de 65. Le capitaine de corvette (Capc) Clayton Erickson, commandant en second du navire, explique que cela permet d'assurer un bon transfert des connaissances de l'\u00e9quipage du navire bas\u00e9 sur la c\u00f4te est.<\/p>\n

\u00ab Un grand pourcentage de notre \u00e9quipage bas\u00e9 sur la c\u00f4te ouest est d\u00e9j\u00e0 bien install\u00e9 \u00e0 bord de Max, et les autres nous rejoindront \u00e0 l'arriv\u00e9e \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 le Capc Erickson. \u00ab Nous ferons nos adieux \u00e0 notre \u00e9quipe de la c\u00f4te Est peu de temps apr\u00e8s notre arriv\u00e9e \u00e0 Esquimalt. \u00bb<\/p>\n

Le Capitaine de corvette Erickson affirme que lui et son \u00e9quipage adorent la vie \u00e0 bord du NPEA, qui s'av\u00e8re \u00eatre une plateforme id\u00e9ale pour vivre et travailler.<\/span><\/p>\n

Le Max a entam\u00e9 son voyage de quatre semaines et demie depuis la BFC Halifax le 11 mars. Il traversera le canal de Panama jusqu'\u00e0 Esquimalt, en s'arr\u00eatant dans les ports en cours de route.<\/p>\n

Pr\u00e9parer le Max pour son d\u00e9part n'a pas \u00e9t\u00e9 une mince affaire. L'\u00e9quipage du navire, les unit\u00e9s c\u00f4ti\u00e8res des Forces maritimes de l'Atlantique et des entrepreneurs du secteur priv\u00e9 ont pass\u00e9 les mois d'automne et d'hiver \u00e0 pr\u00e9parer le Max pour son transfert c\u00f4tier. Cette pr\u00e9paration comprenait une s\u00e9rie de courtes p\u00e9riodes de travail et deux programmes principaux en mer en d\u00e9cembre et en janvier.<\/p>\n

Le Capc Erickson d\u00e9clare que lui et son \u00e9quipage sont tr\u00e8s fiers de livrer le navire de classe Harry DeWolf \u00e0 la flotte du Pacifique.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab Max est compos\u00e9 d'un groupe de marins incroyablement talentueux et motiv\u00e9s \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 le Capc Erickson. \u00ab Il est important de montrer au plus grand nombre de Canadiens possible qui nous sommes et ce que nous faisons pour soutenir le Canada. \u00bb<\/p>\n

Le NPEA sera \u00e0 Vancouver le 3 mai pour participer \u00e0 la semaine de la flotte et \u00e0 la c\u00e9r\u00e9monie de mise en service. Il participera \u00e0 l'exercice du groupe op\u00e9rationnel (TGEX) 24 dans le d\u00e9troit de Juan de Fuca avec les fr\u00e9gates de classe Halifax, le NCSM Vancouver et le NCSM Regina, et les navires de d\u00e9fense c\u00f4ti\u00e8re de classe Kingston, le NCSM Edmonton et le Yellowknife.<\/p>\n

Le <\/span>Max<\/span><\/i> retournera ensuite \u00e0 Esquimalt pour une p\u00e9riode de travail essentielle en vue d'un programme estival charg\u00e9, notamment la participation aux exercices Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2024 au large d'Hawa\u00ef. Le navire patrouillera ensuite dans le Grand Nord arctique occidental dans le cadre de l'op\u00e9ration Nanook-Nunakput 2024.<\/span>

\n<\/span>Le navire n'est pas le premier NPEA \u00e0 accoster \u00e0 Esquimalt. En octobre 2021, <\/span>Harry DeWolf <\/span><\/i>est devenu le premier navire de la MRC \u00e0 franchir le passage du Nord-Ouest depuis plus de 50 ans. Il est ensuite arriv\u00e9 pour des visites portuaires \u00e0 Vancouver et Victoria avant de retourner \u00e0 Halifax via le canal de Panama.<\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
