\"\"L'orgueil pr\u00e9c\u00e8de la chute. Je suis moins attrist\u00e9 par la chute d'un dirigeant que par le mal que cette personne a fait aux autres sur son chemin. Nous avons tous rencontr\u00e9 des personnes orgueilleuses ; elles parlent et parlent d'elles-m\u00eames, elles pensent que leur opinion est toujours la bonne et elles pensent qu'elles sont g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement meilleures que la plupart des gens. Nous rep\u00e9rons facilement l'orgueil chez les autres, mais nous sommes moins enclins \u00e0 le voir en nous-m\u00eames.<\/span><\/p>\n

L'auteur Carey Nieuwhof d\u00e9clare dans son livre intitul\u00e9 Didn't See It Coming (Je ne l'avais pas vu venir): \u00ab Laissons l'orgueil suivre son cours, et il rendra votre c\u0153ur inerte. L'orgueil vous met \u00e0 l'abri des conseils des autres et de l'agitation de votre conscience. Il vous fait croire que les r\u00e8gles ne s'appliquent pas \u00e0 vous ou que vous pouvez les enfreindre sans r\u00e9percussions. \u00bb<\/p>\n

Si notre syst\u00e8me d'\u00e9valuation militaire a toujours r\u00e9compens\u00e9 les chefs faisant preuve d'orgueil, ce syst\u00e8me est en train d'\u00eatre modifi\u00e9. La seule fa\u00e7on de contrer la tendance humaine \u00e0 l'orgueil est de cultiver l'humilit\u00e9, et notre syst\u00e8me de formation fait d\u00e9sormais de l'humilit\u00e9 un comportement souhait\u00e9. Nombreux sont ceux qui ont vu la pr\u00e9sentation Powerpoint de la profession des armes intitul\u00e9e L\u2019\u00e9thos des FAC : Digne de servir. L'un des enseignements qu'elle aborde est le d\u00e9veloppement du caract\u00e8re, et cela inclut une discussion sur les vertus\/comportements souhaitables que l'on observe chez les leaders ayant un caract\u00e8re de grande qualit\u00e9. L'humilit\u00e9 figure sur cette liste.<\/p>\n

L'humilit\u00e9 commence par la conscience de soi, mais la pratique de la conscience de soi n'est pas un comportement courant. Une \u00e9tude pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e dans L\u2019\u00e9thos des FAC : Digne de servir indique qu'un maigre 15 pour cent de la population est consciente de soi et prend le temps de r\u00e9fl\u00e9chir \u00e0 sa vie. Combien d'entre vous ont le courage de demander \u00e0 quelqu'un qui vous conna\u00eet bien comment (et non pas si) il voit votre fiert\u00e9 se manifester dans votre vie ? C'est un bon premier pas. Les autres caract\u00e9ristiques de l'humilit\u00e9 sont la modestie, la r\u00e9flexion, la curiosit\u00e9, le respect, la gratitude et la vuln\u00e9rabilit\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Pour mes amis fans de Band of Brothers, r\u00e9fl\u00e9chissez \u00e0 la dynamique de la fiert\u00e9 et de l'humilit\u00e9 au sein du commandement de la Easy Company. Comment Dick Winters a-t-il gagn\u00e9 la loyaut\u00e9 de la Easy Company ? Ils ont volontiers suivi ses ordres au combat, m\u00eame s'ils savaient que cela pouvait facilement signifier qu'ils allaient perdre la vie.
