La saison des f\u00eates n'a pas encore commenc\u00e9, mais le personnel de l'Unit\u00e9 de plong\u00e9e de la Flotte (Atlantique) (UPF(A)) se met dans l'ambiance d\u00e8s le d\u00e9but en se pr\u00e9parant \u00e0 la 41e campagne annuelle de collecte de fonds de l'unit\u00e9 pour soutenir le t\u00e9l\u00e9thon Christmas Daddies.<\/span><\/p>\n

L'\u00e9v\u00e9nement principal de la course des plongeurs de la marine sera le relais de 50 kilom\u00e8tres organis\u00e9 dans le cadre du t\u00e9l\u00e9thon Christmas Daddies le 2 d\u00e9cembre, mais les efforts visant \u00e0 recueillir des fonds pour aider les familles moins fortun\u00e9es pendant les f\u00eates ont d\u00e9j\u00e0 commenc\u00e9. De petites collectes de fonds au niveau de l'unit\u00e9 ont eu lieu, comme la vente de sandwichs au petit-d\u00e9jeuner et des d\u00e9fis de tirs de hockey, et la <\/span>GoFundMe page<\/span><\/a> de la campagne est maintenant en ligne, permettant \u00e0 tout le monde de contribuer \u00e0 l'initiative.<\/span>

\n<\/span>Le matelot de 1re classe Michael Butt a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que l'unit\u00e9 attendait avec impatience les papas de No\u00ebl chaque ann\u00e9e et que les membres de l'\u00e9quipe \u00e9taient enthousiastes \u00e0 l'id\u00e9e de commencer la campagne pour 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab C'est assez sp\u00e9cial de voir combien de temps, d'\u00e9nergie et d'argent tout le monde ici \u00e0 l'unit\u00e9 est pr\u00eat \u00e0 donner pour une si bonne cause \u00bb, a-t-il ajout\u00e9.<\/span>

\n<\/span>\u00ab C'est \u00e9videmment quelque chose que nous faisons depuis longtemps et qui est important pour l'unit\u00e9. Cela nous donne l'occasion de nous retrouver tous ensemble juste avant les vacances et de mettre en pratique le travail d'\u00e9quipe que nous d\u00e9veloppons tout au long de l'ann\u00e9e, tout en donnant un grand coup de pouce \u00e0 la communaut\u00e9. \u00bb<\/span><\/p>\n

Depuis l'\u00e9tablissement du partenariat en 1983, plus de 385 000 $ ont \u00e9t\u00e9 recueillis pour les Christmas Daddies par la communaut\u00e9 des plongeurs, les membres de leur famille et d'autres personnes qui ont choisi de soutenir la course des plongeurs de la marine.<\/span><\/p>\n

Le volet course de l'\u00e9v\u00e9nement a pris diff\u00e9rentes formes au fil des ans, du parcours original le long de l'autoroute entre Truro et Halifax, aux it\u00e9rations ult\u00e9rieures qui ont vu les membres de l'\u00e9quipe courir dans toute la MRH. Ces derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es, le COVID-19 a fait en sorte que le relais se d\u00e9roule plus pr\u00e8s du domicile de l'unit\u00e9, \u00e0 la 12e Escadre Shearwater, et en 2023, les coureurs pr\u00e9voient d'utiliser le syst\u00e8me de sentiers Shearwater Flyer.<\/span><\/p>\n

Malgr\u00e9 les changements, les coureurs termineront toujours leur journ\u00e9e de 50 km de la mani\u00e8re classique, en courant vers l'\u00e9mission du T\u00e9l\u00e9thon Christmas Daddies pour pr\u00e9senter leur don en direct sur CTV.<\/span><\/p>\n

Un autre \u00e9l\u00e9ment qui reviendra en 2023 sera les points chauds, o\u00f9 des plongeurs seront install\u00e9s un peu partout dans la communaut\u00e9 pour recueillir des dons le 2 d\u00e9cembre, notamment \u00e0 Alderney Landing et sur le front de mer d'Halifax. Restez \u00e0 l'\u00e9coute pour conna\u00eetre la liste compl\u00e8te des emplacements. L'objectif est d'\u00eatre le plus visible possible, \u00e0 la fois pour encourager les dons et pour mettre en lumi\u00e8re l'UPF(A) elle-m\u00eame, ainsi que le travail incroyable que les plongeurs-d\u00e9mineurs accomplissent au nom de la Marine royale du Canada.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab Nous sommes un m\u00e9tier un peu obscur et il est tr\u00e8s difficile de devenir plongeur-d\u00e9mineur. Tout le monde n'est pas conscient des capacit\u00e9s que nous fournissons \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 le lieutenant de vaisseau Samuel-Alexandre Mercier, officier des op\u00e9rations de la UPF(A).<\/span><\/p>\n

Mais avant tout, la campagne vise \u00e0 recueillir des fonds pour une bonne cause, et les plongeurs, ainsi que d'autres, seront pr\u00e9sents en grand nombre le 2 d\u00e9cembre pour faire exactement cela.<\/span><\/p>\n
